I'm counting on the route being fairly obvious, i.e. keep the sea on the left, plus without doubt there will be a significant number of runners ahead of me who I plan to follow...I hope they know the way! ;0)
Some clever-clogs has made one of those google map things showing the established route. There's a link from the Coastal Run page on our website www.alnwickharriers.co.uk.
Did this last year and loved every minute except the last killer miles on soft sand. Does anyone know if you can park overnight on the dunes at Alnmouth ? - we've got a van and it would be very convenient...
Im in a panic! Ive lost my number and all the info! God knows where its gone. Its so frustrating. Like pixies have come into the house and removed it as it certainly isnt where I left it with all my other race numbers.
Anyway, doesnt matter. Can you send me a duplicate??
Apologies for the inconvenience. I am very organised with race numbers etc and this has never happened to me before!
Well not long now anyone know what the weather is going to be?Need to know what sun factor number to buy, pouring with rain this weekend in Craster so.....

Hottest days of the year Well, that wouldn't take much, would it :-)
I'm sure it's always been good weather when I've done this event, and I am confident it will be on Sunday, although typing with fingers crossed is not easy.
Colin: Seeing as you asked, we have 988 registered runners for the race. Its the highest entry we've had since the early 1980's. You'll need sunblock down your left hand side unless you particularly want the infamous Coastal Tan.
Thannx Anne, sounds brilliant looking forward to this event for a while but was unsure about route etc but have been practising on Spittal beach recently so who knows. Are there showers etc or anywhere to improve personal hygiene at the end of race?
There are complimentary bathing facilities about 200m east of the finish. Cold water only but plenty of it! If you don't fancy a paddle, there are public toilets just near the Golf Club where you can wash yourself down after the race.
I hope everyone has a great run. I'm running too this year so I'll be going through it with you. The forecast is good - sunny with only a mild head wind and the tide is out. Please remember to smile at the marshals as you pass them. They are mostly runners who give up their day to help out. Finally, please be discreet if you go for a wee in the dunes at Beadnell.
I have been unable to train for past four weeks (medical reason) and only went back to my club last night. I ran 5 miles on road with no problem though im not as fit as i should be for this. I was going to pull out but really dont want to so am planning to run/jog/walk if neccessary to get through it. Am I likely to be the only one?
Tamsin - you won't be alone. There are usually a few people who savour the event by walk/jogging. Our two 'last runner marshals' Wendy and Helen will keep an eye on you and all our marshals are in telephone contact so if you need to pull out at any stage please ask the marshals for help. We keep the finish open till Wendy and Helen get back, about 3 hours. Hopeyou enjoy the day.
Christopher - I wear road shoes but a lot of people wear trail shoes. There are some stretches on roads, but the majority is off road. With the tide being out its likely that the beach will be all wrinkly (I don't know the proper word for when the sand is like corrugated paper but you know what I mean) and it can be quite tough on the ankles. If you need the stability of your trail shoes more than you need the cushioning of roadshoes then wear your trailshoes. I'm no help am I? Have fun.

Are trail shoes more advisable than road shoes ?
Enjoy
Have fun.
Anne
Thanks for that I will opt for trail shoes.
Really looking forward to this one. Will be regarding it as a high speed ramble.
Do most people carry water?
