I'm waiting 'til Monday before I attempt a trot round the block... Meantime, I'm dreaming and scheming (= reading various schedules...) This time, I'll have a go at speedwork and make better use of the soundfiles, here http://blog.jiwok.com/ I find it difficult to count, or think, when I'm trying to run fast and I can't see my watch without my specs so having someone tell you to ' run fast/slow down/breathe' etc is great. Well worth a look.
I look at it this way. I can do a 1.57 half. My goal between now and the end of the year is to trim that to low 1.50's or below. If I can do that then a 4 hr full is on.
Me too - aiming for 4.45 this time. Back to training next week - digging the garden now and lots of stretching - so it says in RW, just arrived. Thigh is on the mend thankfully, and blisters are now a thing of the past. Still looking for cheap flights to Amsterdam though - am up for that one while things are still fresh in my mind.
This is making me want to sign up already, I'm quite sad it's over! What a brilliant race. Now I know what to expect I think I could shave 10 minutes off my time, maybe even more if the weather is a bit cooler.
Still, I don't really care about getting a PR as much as the wicked music they had lining the course, they really made the race!
4hr is my target. Half mara times from last autumn suggest its doable but I need better preparation and be a stone less for that comparison to pan out; and most importantly for me I'd need cooler weather.
Doing a second mara in October though and with 2 in the bag and a planned weight of 1 stone less than the half mara times I hope it'd be ok.
Could mean a slow start (I dropped 50 places between 5 and 10k), could be because 300+ went past while I watered the daisies on the Champs Elysses that I later caught, could be that alot of people went off too early for the weather then had to walk from 15ish onwards when I kept plodding; could be that a few thousand dropped out!
In short, probably not this year (I started right at the back of 'green' which was too far forward for my time) but next year I shall be opening up a can of whoop ass on the Paris marathon. Where I put myself will depend on how well training for Loch Ness is going at that point.

Blimey - I thought I was bad!!
Knees still a little sore now and again, but more or less back to normal now.
I'll be watching the FLM on Sunday with green monsters!
Legs felt ok yesterday. Did a 3 mile jog and a bit stiff again today. Overall alright though. Wouldn't have missed it for the world.
Probably stay in the same hotel too which was 200 yards from the tube stop - handy when you have to drag 2 suitcases in agony there on the way home!
That's unless I can find one nearer the start at a reasonable rate. We paid about £40 per night each, and that didn't include breakfast.
That was a 30 min walk to the start which was finem and a nice warm up.
And to think when i crossed the finish line i wanted to announce my retirement.
I've also got my med cert sorted.

When do entries open?
4 hrs is in the bag.
How hard can it be?
