    • plan 3, everything goes badly this morning and I don't even bother going to London.

Really down as I've had a hard month with everything and after running so well in Wokingham and doing most of the training its hard to fall at last hurdle.image

  • AA - Hope the treadmill session went ok and its either plan 1 or 2 for you.

I stuck to plan last night and just did 3 miles slow pace - legs felt like lead but have been there before - lightish track session tonight to put some pep back into them.

    Nervous days!

  • Being nervous that's normal, if there is anyone that is not nervous I think there telling porkies.

AA - How did your run go this morning?

  • Was meant to do 8 x 400m today, but the cold must have affected my brain and I only did 200m efforts instead.  Still, apart from freezing fingers (didnt wear gloves) I enjoyed the short sharp session.  Tried to book a last massage - but have lost the telephone number image.  Phoned cancer research too to get a vest as cant find the one I had from before.  Have changed my mind about the running shoes I'm going to use too.  Anyone checked the forecast yet?

Hi all, i know  i havent posted for a good while but injury had got the better of me. I made my decision to run the marathon 2 weeks ago. I was originally going for 3.15 before my injury but have missed nearly all my Lsrs and no speed work from the end of Jan. My injury responds better when I run slower as there is less load on the tendon on my ankle. So I decided to run Paris on Sunday knowing there was no chance of a PB.It was really hard to hold back but I had to be sensible I did 3.48 with 1st half split 1.53 2nd 1.55. The time doesn't mean anything to me but finishing without the injury flaring up was a bonus.

Now it's your turn. Good luck everybody! I will come done to cheer you all on.

  • 4x600's all done with no pain so move onto plan 2!image

I'm really thinking about running in my old asics - I've got a new pair with about 100 miles on and an old pair which I ran Berlin in last Sep has probably got 300 miles on, but ran in them today and my foot felt fine...image

Rowan, congrats on doing Paris and getting through in one piece.

albee, no idea on weather - bot today's conditions would be perfect!!

  • AA - That must be good news on the running front.

Rowan - Congrats to you on Paris, nice one.

Weather for Sunday 13th April, subjec t to change,

    BBC Weather

  • AA   - Definitely run and just enjoy teh atmosphere . Reading should  beat Fulham on Saturday so that will cheer you up and well !

Can't wait to do last 400 m efforts tonight.

Agree todays conditions would be perfect if the wind swung from West to SE or E , but just a tad warmer fro me (sorry BOTF !!)   Last afternoon at work til next Tuesday !

  • Hi all, it's comforting to hear I'm not the only who's had problems. I tore my achilles 7 weeks ago so recent training has been a challenge. I had originally been aiming for 3.15-3.20 (whilst telling everyone 3.30) but that's up in smoke. Only previous marathon was 3.42 and I hit the wall big time at 19 miles, so I'll be gutted if I don't beat that but it's all down to how the leg works out now!

     How's everyone's eating going?

  • RFJRFJ ✭✭✭
    Far too much food Domsk....!
  • I'm currently tucking away between 650 - 750g of carb a day, I feel like Mr Creosote!
  • Don't remind me I'm starving! Sitting here at my desk - no pack lunch and forgot my purse so cant go out and  buy a sandwich.  Had a banana 10 mins ago ... and actually - I've got some porridge down in the kitchen, so if I can't find anything else to raid that will do for my lunch today.

Weather looks like its perking up - hopefully it'll be milder than last year.

I'm on the local radio on Friday morning - if any of you get radio Oxford, listen out between 6.30 and 7am, it'll probably be dire.  But I'm going to ask for Billy Ocean 'when the going gets tough, the tough get going' for all us marathoners out there!

  • I'll lend you a fiver if you like?
  • I'll put a fiver in as well?

  • This morining, 4.01m @ 8:46 pace, it feels very strange running now.

  • Rowan - Off such broken training 3:45 was a really good time & controlled pacing to boot - Not the PB you were originally aiming for but for the training you did get done it was a great achievement.  Hope you are celebrating.

I'm starving - with cutting down the mileage so much I daren't eat the mountains of food I usually tuck away!

  • You'll probably burn 4,000 calories on Sunday so tuck in!
  • Did my last speed session of this campaign - 8 x 400 metres with 2 min recovery.  Felt absolutely great.  Really enjoyed.  Well say 'really' now that I am sat at my desk after piggin out on lunch - oops sorry albee.  the last rep I did at 6:30 pace and was telling mysefl, that's it now until London!

thanks for the weather forecast - looking good.  Think it may be vest and no t shirt under vest if it is 15C.

HAs everyone remembered that you need a photo id when registering?

  • Forecast is getting better (?) for Sunday - looks as though it'll be warmish and sunny...  Am a bit worried about the vest my charity has given me, which is a bit tight over the man boobs and made my nipples bleed after 13 miles on Saturday (more info than you wanted, perhaps).  I hope plasters will do the trick.

My target for Sunday is 3:40, from red start, and it's my first marathon, so whatever I manage will be my personal best!  Not sure what my number is - it's at home.

    Am feeling very nervous.

  • It's good to feel nervous, take care of the nips and you'll be fine.

Hope there's not too much sun on Sunday, a day like today would be great.
