I have never run before and want to know where in London I can buy good shoes.

I am 42, overweight and have had some back problems - hopefully managed now.

Reading the above I feel as though I might be considered too ambitious for wanting to run - but I have had a yearning to run for the last few months, so thought I might as well give it a go ...

Runner's Need have branches at Holborn, Liverpool Street and Camden Town.

The staff are really good and will sort you out with the right shoes.

Runner's Need in Holborn gets my vote. I came up from Bristol to get mine from there. They have video gait analysis machines and will slow mo you running to see what your feet are doing. Top job.

You watch that weight drop off as well. I've lost 2 and a half stone so far!

Go for it AuntySqudgy - not too ambitious at all. Just take it slow & steady, take little walk breaks if needed, and get a decent sports bra along with the decent shoes!

Run and become in Palmer St, not far from Victoria stn are also a good bet!
