Thanks for the info guys - I'm looking forward to the race, my first this year (I've been slacking) - hoping an ankle injury doesn't play up, and that it's not too hot!
Gently undulating and relatively quick. Some of the country lanes are a bit narrow (especially between 5 and 6K), so it's worth pushing away from the start before getting into a rhythm at about the 2K mark. The race also has a reputation for being quite warm, but with a bar in the Race HQ, you can find something to help you cool down afterwards.
I'm doing this one...Bourne I will be over the hour....haven't been out much due to work...roll on summer holidays still working but no late nights until the schools return in sept. And I can go in later so some early morning runs as well.. So I can do lots of running....yippeeeee.
Looking forward to this even though it is a local race to me first time....
Got my number now........I had to pick it up from the post office sorting office. A word of warning if entering (any) races by post now. Your own handwritten 'return' envelope needs more than a first class stamp. I had to pick up mine and pay an extra six pence (wow !!) AND a one pound 'handling' fee to the post office (and they go on strike for more money ??!!)
Whew! That was tough... I was about 4 and a half minutes slower than last year, and I put most of that down to the humidity. I started right at the back, so I spent most of the race passing others, but I never really felt that I was running particularly well. Still, it does no harm to train in warm weather if you expect to run in warm weather...
I love this run - it has a great warm, village atmosphere, but generates enough of a crowd to create a buzz.
Like Sir Cowarde I felt the humidity. This was my slowest 10K for over a year. The gentle slopes felt very steep this year. I took 1 hour 36 seconds. At Battersea in Feb I took 52 minutes 34 seconds. That's eight minutes difference - and the Battersea run felt light and easy all the way.
For the British 10K, during which I stopped for photographs and a long piss on the embankment, and which was very crowded so it was difficult to pass people, I managed under 59 minutes.
Yeah a great race today but it was very warm out there with no breeze at all. I havent done this race for a couple of years but really enjoyed it. Wanted sub 40 but came in bang on 40!!!! Still pleased with that, sounds like most found it tough today.
Humidity was tough. As someone else has already said, although I ran ok, I never really felt I was running that well. Did 47.32 but had been hoping to get round in 45. A friend of mine regularly runs 43's but only managed a 45 yesterday so I guess the humidity was draining us all. Good event though, nice countryside, virtually no traffic and good support from local residents, many of whom were in their front gardens offering support.
It was hard! I thought it was going to be a bit wet as there were thunder storms in the morning but how wrong was I? Great race though, lovely course. Looking forward to the Dinosaur run next week in Deal.
Strange race this one. I really enjoyed it, but although I felt I had run a strong race, I came in 30 seconds slower than Victoria Park last week where I was dying for the last 3 km. Guess, like most people here, the humidity was affecting my time.
I agree that it was tough. I had only managed to clock up about 90 minutes of running in the last week and all of it on a treadmill.
My pb (huh) is 1.06 and yesterday I came in at 1.13. I was doing fine, following a couple going at a reasonable pace for the first K and then saw that they were doing 5.5 min k's.... Little bit too quick for me. I followed them and passed them at 3K, they passed me at 4 and I had pretty much given up on getting a new pb after that.
Nice race though, loved the scenery and everyone seemed very friendly. Special thanks to the steward who took great delight in soaking me at the last water station whilst I was being followed by a police car!!
Glad everyone else found it hard. I nearly didnt run as I had been suffering from a cold the week before and the week before that I had a twinge in my leg so I hadnt run for two weeks.
I usually run 50-55mins but only managed 59.44 yesterday.
I found the last 2km really hardgoing yesterday and came in at 65mins which is my worst by about 4 mins but am cheered to see that I wasn't the only one suffering! Was so happy to get to the finish line.
Enjoyed this immensely. - I was only about 15 seconds off target but I certainly felt that last 2k. - Results are usually put up towards the end of the week.

I was once again hoping to get inside 42 minutes but that looks unlikely at the moment.
Hopefully I'll be fully fit for the Cross Country season.

Hopeless!

Any idea where the results are/will be?

I think the humidity definitely added some time to most people then.
