Hydration on a hot day

As a sprinter the hydration advice in Runners World for distance runners (i.e. drink x amount every 20 minutes )doesn't quite apply to me, but i'd like to know where to get advice on the following problem:
On hot days, even though i try to take water on regularly, my performance can suffer really badly from having to wait out in the hot sun to be called up for a race. Does anyone have any advice on what sports drinks might overcome this problem?
