training after racing

I usually race 10K’s and always find it hard to get the motivation to get back into training straight afterwards. It usually takes about a week before I put my trainers back on and pound the streets again.

Anyone have this similar challenge and has anyone some tips to get me out quicker

  • yes definatly chris although i find it helps if you go out on the club run a few days after so you can talk to other peeps who did the race as well.
  • I have the same problem, especially if the race has been a particularly tough one. I think this is down to fatigue more than anything else. I always get quite excited about races and in the days leading up to it, I think about it a lot.When it's over, I think there is an element of deflation.I find the quickest way to get back to training is to get another race date in the diary.Even then it still usually takes me a good week to get back into it.
