that's the right spelling sweetie, claire will be impressed. it was a pleasure to support - made all the more special by oxy's commitment to excellence.
fantastic racing by the pirates (except nancy oxy of course). especially impressed by holly - clearly not in a good way on the run - battling on and putting in a storming finish in the end. glad your first beaver experience didn't leave a bad taste in your mouth.
had a very enjoyable time supporting from the top of the longest climb. got a bit stressed when i ran out of food. but i guess i learned from that experience and will return stronger and better prepared for my next supporting role.
I was very impressed to, like I think I said afterwards im much more impressed by a gutsy performance and overcoming difficulties during the race. Holly fought on and gave 100%, no one can ask for more.
Oxy on the other hand was a total wuss.
Great performances by Vixen and Sweetie, both were very stong (though im guessing sweetie was strong as I missed his race).
yes, brilliant performance by vix and sweetie. only saw sweetie on the swim and he looked happy. vix looked very cheerful all teh way around and seemed to be really enjoying it. anyone who can smile going uphill should get an award. it's more than the miserable guys at the front managed.
good work by the marshalls too.
just remembered it had the worlds longest transistion too. about 600 meters from the lake to T1 and then another 150 meters from T1 across a field to get to the road/mount point!
Thanks for the fantastic support and for the great team mates. Even Oxy I'll forgive for being a quitter because I got a momentary lift when I thought that I had lapped him. It was definitely an 'interesting' transition area, I'll have to practice my running through long grass in bare feet if I do it next year. Holly you were inspirational. I hope that you are taking a well earned rest today.
How's everyone feeling today? My legs were killing me in the night. I was up at 3am hunting down the ibuprofen and deep freeze muscle gel. My fault for trying to hammer the bike Bradley Wiggins style I suppose (though without the bit where you get anywhere near the front of the field!).
Found out from my Garmin this morning that the Olympic bike course was actually 27 miles, which was a nice bonus.
Yes, perhaps with aforementioned mullet and a generous helping of hairspray I could even fashion an "aero-mullet" for the ultimate in performance accessories.
If someone told you you could challenge for a stage of the TdF either by following a gruelling training for eight hours a day everyday, or by sporting a mullet in public, which would you rather do...?
