I'm going to keep an eye on these marathons. I was thinking of doing the District Double again but I always find places that have adverse weather conditions tempting! You are thinking about the 10 in 10 days? I assumed it was a one-off? I saw some of those men after their 10th marathon and they were walking around in a very sprightly fashion (unlike me who could only just cope with 2!) Windermere is worth doing for the mint cake at the water stations alone!
Hippo- MOTORWAYS!!!!! That's a swear word. Well done!
I joined the Slug amongst others for a run a couple of months ago and was slightly troubled by his ability to get up hills without panting or swearing (I did a lot of both). I am going to rest til our race, and then I'll show him!!!!!
mortica - the organisers at Windemere are thinking about doing the 10 in 10 again but they haven't made a decision yet about 2008 - I have put my name down.
Hippo - re the Sunday in between marathons, we can cath up with Running for Beer, did you know he now lives on the Isle of Lewis? I've already been in touch with him.
Its not going to be easy for me either as will need X wife to have the boys 3 weeks running so may not be very popular. Did the Larig Ghru race yesterday and can still walk up and down the stairs so must be doing something right, time for a fry up now though just need an excuse to leave the office.
I've had an email from the race organiser and he says...
we plan to start the Stornoway Marathon at Calanish Stones ..and rename it the Calanish Stones Marathon with matching medals!..race will finish in Stornoway in the Lewis Castle Grounds.
HC - email Tony, his email address is on my first posting on this thread, we from the 100MC club are emailing him to register our interest.
Yes, normal marathon training, maybe an extra long run or two without such a gap between them and don't run your guts out in the first one but conserve a bit of energy. Also recovery from the first one by the book, re food and fluids, and a short recovery run on the Sunday would help.

I am sure the Slug would not swear anyway
I believe there is a bus you can get from Inverness that connects to the ferry to Stornoway from Ullapool.
There isn't much to do on a Sunday in the Western Isles as everything is closed.

I guess you more or less just do "normal" marathon training for this, going to do both marathons.
Is there a list you can put your name down on to ensure you get an entry form once the details are finalised?
