i am going. did this race in 2004 on a hot day but have missed the last two years due to being on holiday. i remember it was a really nice course, mostly flat i think and mixed terrain. i wish races in the summer would star a bit earlier though- i dont like running in the heat. mind you- if this summer's weather continues i dont think heat will be a problem.
I walk round Chasewater quite often with my dog, it doesn't really get too soggy although there may be the odd wet bit. i'm sure road shoes will be OK.
I'm pretty sure it is 5k round the lake, so I reckon it's 2 laps.
I'll be there! Just hope it's a bit cooler than last year - thought I was going to die then!!! Really tempted to drop out after the first lap, but kept going to come home in a PW!! Great race though!
Great map Booster. One point, having never done this race, do you have to run on water? The map doesn't show any bridges and I am hoping this is just missing details!
I am quite looking forward to this one. I would normally be doing the 10 miler at Trentham, but I'm just coming back from an 8 month lay off and now find I am getting slower each race I do and not quicker. I am hoping not to go over the 70 minute mark for this one.
Harrierette, if you zoom in and change the view from Map to Hybrid you will be able to re-assure yourself that there is a bridge! We share it with the choo choos from what I can gather. All the best for Sunday.
I've just had a look at last year's results, there were quite a lot of people taking over an hour so I reckon it was pretty hot. In the few 10ks I've done, I'm about an hour and near the back - I don't think the heat will be a problem this year!
Thanks everyone for all the helpfull comments. Went round course on Thursday night and the weather was great but it has rained all day Friday, if it is dry on Saturday it should dry out quickly so fingers crossed. But whatever the weather just enjoy the event at least you will have a nice dry 't' shirt to replace your wet running top!
I called the race secretary earlier as I'm thinking of travelling down to enter this tomorrow and he called back and left a message to say the course isn't too waterlogged and is drying out, so barring exceptional circumstances should go ahead.
Just in case anybody is still in doubt, the race is still on barring any further major downpours. Steve Loundes PS GOOD LUCK EVERYONE HAVE A GOOD RACE/RUN
arrived at chasewater this morning at 10.30 hoping to register and run but the race limit had been reached! i normally pre enter races but sometimes get my number on the day- this has never happened to me b4. went home v disappointed. hope you all had a good run- the weather was just right today.
I am still trying to decide whether or not I enjoyed this race. Having finished in a PW time of over 73 minutes, on a course than wasn't that hilly or difficult, I think I will have to run more.
I hadn't done this race before, having tackled the Trenthan 10 miler for the last two years, I found it to be very scenic and got to see the steam train setting off on the second lap. I did meet two guys coming back down the course looking a bit confused. They had found the 7 km marker and didn't realised it was a two lap race.
I only managed one lap of 5km as my knee was killing me and I didn't want to drag myself around a second time and make it worse!
I really enjoyed the route though and was amazed how dry it was considering how much rain there had been. The marshalls were all really supportive and the whole event was well organised.
Jenni-far-far, I managed quiet well with the puddles except for the one I decided to step in in the middle, as it was the narrowest point and I mistakenly thought it would be the shallowest point, I got a very wet foot as it was quite deep!
Emma, I was thinking 'why didn't I enter the 5 km race' as I set off on the second lap!
Does anyone know if the results are in yet? I can't get into the Chase Harriers website, just get a man running in the corner and their logo. If someone could add a link to the results in their response, I would be most grateful :-)

Never done this before, will it be ok with road shoes after all this rain...?

It's quite hilly by the look of it!
It undulates but the climbs and descents are weeny!

Anyone heard anything?
I'm assuming it's on, we haven't flooded here - just very soggy!
In fact, I didn't get my number in the post - I was a bit late though, so hopefully it'll be waiting for me tomorrow
see you there!

It wasn't too muddy - only had to jump over a few puddles!
