I was injured last year/winter but have knocked out a few marathons since then. have entered the 10 in 10 at Windemere next year as I have a bit of catching up to do
#69 - I'd better not tell you my joke about the guy and his Chinese girlfriend then. But great to see such a turnout for this race....and many more like me to register on the day...sorry RO.
To try and find some of the 213 seconds I need have decided to run in Asics Trainers rather than the 2020's....perhaps I've forgotten what those hills look/ feel like. Bought 2 gels this morning...so nearly sorted now.
RO says you can enter on the day - great news. Weatherman confirms weather will be a bit nasty - so waccyracer if you could hae a word with the big man, that'd be good. So looks like being a proper job on Sunday then.
The weather we have around my neighbourhood at the moment would be ideal for sunday. The sky is clear and bright. There is no wind at all. I am a couple of hundred miles north -east of Cornwall but I will do my best to get it to follow me down on Saturday.
(waccyracer) - yes, I suppose we do really. A way has been provided. (Don't know about you but I'm not in the stilling storms category yet.)
Talking off which, still heavy rain forecast. Visibility now downgraded from moderate to poor. Wind upped from 12 to 18 mph north-north-westerly - starting to get serious. Temp up one degree to 9. Got to be some good news.
Designation changed from heavy rain to heavy showers. Sounds hopeful.
Did my last long run on Monday, about 20 miles with 3900' ascent in my local hills. Sunny day with no wind at all. Wonderful day to be out with long shadows and a golden glow in the air. Did a couple of crazy descents so knees and one big toe joint a bit sore at the moment. Does pain behind the kneecap go away after a day or two?
Hippo - last Sat? What was that one? You keep doing marathons that I've never heard of.
This is my brother's 50th marathon and his 10th Cornish. You will recognise him - he wears shorts, vest, shades, and sweatband whatever the weather or time of year.
Hints of madness allied with stark outright fear some of the key things we will all share on Sunday morning as we line up for 26.2 miles of fun/ aim and desire. Impressed with the 10 Cornish's for Trex brother.
As ran a mara a month ago, no idea of whether tapered well or not. Just done a few shortish one's this week.
Off to Cornwall this afternoon. Staying at Travel Lodge Thorndon Cross. Anyone else staying there? Goat and I might have lunch at Jamaica Inn tomorrow. Looks like weather will be nice for a drive around the moor as I won't be seeing it on Sunday. (not running), unless anyone has a supporter driving round the course as I don't drive and wouldn't say no to a lift. (I have a little dog by the way).
All those coming from a distance to run might consider other eating establishments, the Jamaca Inn is a wonderful torist trap with highly inflated prices etc........ but there are some wonderful pubs / restaurants in the area.
This will be my last post before the race as I have to catch my train at 8.30 tomorrow morning. I should be in liskeard by 1.30
I am still hoping for a change from the fore-casted weather but like it or not I'll still be on the start line on Sunday.
Good luck to all of you. No doubt I will see some (now) familiar faces. Take no notice of my grumpy looking face,( its from a past life.) I am quite a happy chap underneath.

K2 - you've changed your name!
Kessman - still a speedy bu$$er then, well done.

I've found the list of starters for the Cornish, I'm race number 69....no sniggering please.
Still i guess that's better than the 118 that I had for the IOW
I seem to remember that Hippo was 69 last year.

OO - Event details say no entry on the day, but I think the entry form said + £5. It might be full i.e. not enough pasties. Have you checked?
Forecast looks dreadful...
I won't be there this year
I hope to write to her before, but in case I don't ...
send my love to Jen m, I'm sure she will be there!
hope you all have a fantastic day!!!!

hi paskha
8 degrees. 12 mph northwesterly (bad for exposed uphill section). Heavy rain.
Oh dear.
fellrunner's sort of weather.
Heavy rain. Oh dear indeed. Can we change that wind speed to about 3-4 mph southwesterly , small chance of light scattered showers.
At least with strong northwesterly winds we'll all fly downhill from the Jamaica Inn.
Good luck Hippo & Shades.

That's great you're doing it Hipps!!!
I will miss doing it and seeing everyone, but I have good memories, especially last year (my fastest 2nd Half of a marathon ever!)
and I will be out running on the day, so will be thinking of you all

T-Rex- No I am not in that category either. My stop the rain dance last summer was a bit of a flop!
