Dorney Dash 10K done and dusted today, and in the fastest time over the distance for a fair few years (tis a flat course, though). Gong safely in the bag and round the sniggering hound's neck, so that's 84 down with 16 to go ....
On the home straight now, nothing can stop me from winning that bet and bragging rights for years to come. Muttley Jnr is already beginning to accept the inevitable!
Cheers guys! I turned in 46:16 by my watch and 46:26 gun time. In general my aim in 10Ks is to do them in fewer minutes than my age, so I was a couple of mins ahead of schedule today. There's life in the old dog yet!
Good to meet you Foxy ... have posted on one of the Dorney threads ...
That's a contentious point, DD. I have two Didcot gongs, and Jnr and I kind of decided that since I was already doing that event, the only one under 10K, they would stand. However, as the deadline approaches and I draw nearer the target, he's searching for excuses! But I'm so well on schedule I reckon I can sneak in a couple of extra events just to cover my backside
What ho Jj! You probably missed it because this thread bursts into life after I've done a race and then withers on the vine until the next one ... which happens to be on 20 June, the Midsummer Munro half (billed as the toughest half in England ... gulp).
The Midsummer Munro half marathon done this evening. Top event, billed as the hardest in Britain so pleased with a time of just over 2hrs 30 minutes (against a usual of 1:45 to 1:50). And a corker of a medal to take pride of place round the sniggering stuffed hound's neck.
So that makes 85 down with 15 to go in just 10 months. Yeehaaaaaa!
Next up is the Toad Hall 10K on 28 June ... after today's exertions should be easy peasy
Toad Hall 10K done today. Did I say on the previous page it would be easy peasy? An, ahem, undulating course and high heat and humidity cost me a minute per km on my usual time but that doesn't matter. I finished and got the gong so that's 86 medals down with 14 to go.
Next up is the Swinley Trail run in Bracknell the day after tomorrow. Forecast is 30 degrees <wibble>.
Well done Muttley- should have done the Sam Run 10K- nice and flat and lots of shadey trees- put it down for next year, easy to get to from Crowthorne station or Wokingham.
My son had an inset day today so we went to Chessington World of Adventures. They sell medals now, nice ones, for each of the rides. In fact, they do 3 for £10, which is cheaper than a race entry fee.

Nice one, Mutters, keep up the good work!
Might see if I can get my other half to challenge me to similar. I'm just giving myself plenty of time to do it in...
Mind you, I have significantly less medals than you do

Very kind, LWJ, but I must resist, I must stay strong ...
<whispers conspiratorially> But if I get injured, I might just give you a call ... but I didn't say that, right?
you go, Mutts!
So you didn't go back for another 4 laps of Dreaded Dorney then Muttley?
Very sensible if you ask me!

Swinley will be hell I suspect.

You are tempting me, LWJ, but I shall stay strong ....
Swinley Forest 10K Trail Run done and dusted and a very nice gong safely received so that's 87 down and 13 to go. Yeehaaa!
Next up is the Thames 10K a week tomorrow. I'm on a roll ....
