Thames 10K done this evening, a nice "jog in the park" as the organizers billed it. So that makes 88 medals in the bag and 12 to go with 10 months still remaining. Nothing can stop me now
I'm not fussy, suspect they won't be either- yes I'll be at Down Tow going slow. Better find me near the start! How are you coping with the transport for that one?
I'll see you there then! Have made a note to not forget the voucher but it won't harm to remind me just ahead. They say that as you get older, two things happen. The first is your memory goes ... and I can't remember what the other is. Sorted for transport, cheers!
And I've only got two races entered at the mo. Panic stations <ahooga ahooga> Better hit the Events tab soon.
Muttley Jnr is wriggling like a worm on a hook, Helen! His latest wheeze is that medals don't count until I've got home and hung them round the stuffed toy's neck. This is because he knows from Mother of Muttley that I made my entry to the world at half eleven in the morning. He has been invited, in no uncertain terms, to foxtrot oscar with that one!
The dastardly plan is bag the 100th gong on the actual day of my 50th birthday. There's a particular half marathon on that day, and it starts at 9 instead of the more usual 10 so even if I have a mare I should get round in plenty of time.
(Although I might do a sneaky race just ahead and not tell him, so I have one in reserve in case I break my leg, miss the train etc)
Yay, back on the medal trail after two DNS's (had to skip the BBC 10k and Burnham Beeches half due to mild calf injury ...phooey).
Wooburn Park 10k done and dusted (thanks for the tip-off, Foxy!). Medal No 91 is safely in the bag so that's just 9 to go. Next up is the Woodstock 12 this coming Saturday. Easy peasy, the target (and the pasty Muttley Jnr owes me) is within striking distance now ...
Just counted up, I have 17medals so far (would have been 18 but we had a rucksack rather than a medal at the Muller 10K this year). I've got another three events lined up (although, TBF, I don't know if two of those will have medals...). I'm thinking maybe 30 medals by the age of 30...has a nice symmetry to it...
I had to sweat for it though ... twas a warm day at the Woodstock 12 (fab little event btw) and the hills got steeper and I got slower on each of the three laps.
Next up is the Julian Farrell 10k at Camberley on Oct 4.
Well done Muttley *claps wildly* I just read back the whole thread, such a great idea. You're well on course now, your wee lad must be crapping it!
Think I ought to set myself a similar challenge - 10 medals so far, though 6 of those are for 5ks! I also have a duathlon medal (would that count?), but sadly no medals for the two halfs i've done (got a nice engraved glass paperweight for one, crap t-shirt for other!). I'm 33 at the mo, but quite frankly the thought of getting 100 by the time i'm 50 is, well, hellish!!!
*back peddles quickly....* Go Muttley GO! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!

Hi Muttley- can I have your free tickets to Beale park?- Muttley Jnr must be too old for them.
Pissed off to miss this one, it wasn't worth it..

And well done on another medal.

Dress in pink and do a RFL twice?
Have you ever done the Medmenham 10?
Yay .... medal number 89 is in the bag from the Down Tow Up Flow half marathon
Great event as always, and perfect weather.
On the home straight, Just 11 to go in 9 months ... nothing can stop me now barring injury, decrepitude or pestilence ...
11 to go in 9months?!/ You're coasting now!
Medal No 90 is in the bag. Had to work for it though - the Salisbury 5-4-3-2-1 30 km trail run.
Next up is the BBC 10K in Regents Park, 20th August. Bring it on, only 10 gongs to go!
Hurrah!
It makes me smile everytime I see this thread ping to the top of the list
I imagine Muttley Jr is trying to get out of the bet! How inventive are the excuses getting?
I`ll confirm that - he did have to work for No. 90

A possible one for you, unless it clashes with your Cornwall odyssey?

Good going, Muttley - haven't been following this thread for while, so thought I would check in and see how things are going!
Maybe I should do something similar for my 30th...must come up with a reasonable target....
*ahem* reasonable being the operative word

Muttley - Well done for the 91st - Good luck for Saturday.
Ohh - I did smile for the camera
Haven't seen this thread before - brilliant idea! I too might have to do something similar.
Good luck Muttley, will now read back to see what the original bet was...
