I have just run my first Marathon but finished the race with blisters on both my small toes I use a well known gel running shoe and plus also a gel insole plus fairly thick socks Is it that i used to much protection or that I allowed the shoes to be used for to long in training up to the marathon three months use


  • Could just be bad luck Peter - did your feet feel hotter than usual?

    I did all the right things in preparation for  the FLM  - double layer socks, surgical spirit vaseline, no blisters.

    Come race day it was hot. My feet were a mess at the end.

  • Suggest using vaserline on toes just before race or any long distance run.Also i  myself found the thicker the sock the more the layers of material to slip around the foot and cause nuisance blisters.Good luck.
