    What is the very high mileage that you mention in order to make base training effective.?

    And in order to increase weekly mileage safely, so as to avoid injury does one have to stick to the 'only 10% per week rule' ?  You can safely assume that I won't be doing speed work except that if I'm feeling good and happy I tend to run faster - but no determined sprinting or anything like that.

    Hills are a fact of life where i live.
