gmike Lovely to see you We could make a Bupa London 10k pre-reunion! Will msg the others!
1. set up justgiving page 2. train for two halves in two weeks 3. recover from two halves in two weeks 4. start training for the Mara 5. wonder what the h3ll I got myself into, concerned who the bad influence is that got me into it oh! it was my idea
So Paris (and also Blackpool) is on the 11th April, then Brighton is on the 18th and London is on the 25th.
Does anyone know of any other marathons in the weeks before or after? Does anyone know when the Taunton / Shakespeare / Halstead marathons are in 2010? Thanks.
Kryten - I think Taunton is on the 11th as is Connemara, and Stratford on the 25th. Halstead will be the usual date I assume, 2nd Sunday in May. Bungay and Lochaber are also on the 18th April
So Stratford is an alternative to London if I don't get in. I am thinking about doing something like the following (although I will need to clear it with the other half first!).
PH would probably do North Dorset Village full around 2 May too. Mind you it was first run 2008 so dunno if going to be a permanent fixture.
No chance whatsoever of me attempting that lot. Duchy yes, something 11th or 18th Apr yes, Halstead probably, with Caen 13 Jun - a splendidly organised/supported event a short ferry journey away - making 3 or 4 for Spring/Summer 2010.
FB - I plan to come back to IM one day but not in the next couple of years
I would like to run a "fast" marathon and also do the Comrades marathon, so that is the vague plan for 2011. If that actually happens then I might come back to IM in 2012 but I can't really plan ahead that far to be honest.
fairy nuff K - you are still young so loads of time.....
I might come out of my self-imposed IM retirement next year if I CBA to do the training load (and that depends on other factors), or I might wait a couple more years and "treat" myself when I reach 60......
Woop - 10 months to go! Loads of time people. And I need it - got diagnosed with ITBS today - doh! A good rest should sort that out.
This thread is gonna get mighty long by then! I'll be training on the seafront part of the course come the new year - did my FLM long runs from Hove out to Peacehaven and back (about 18 miles). Quite glad we're not going that far out as it's pretty damn hilly! I'm sure I'll see some other BM2010 peeps along there at some point.
Hi, I have registered to do the Brighton marathon next year - it will be my first - think it was a moment of temporary insanity that led me to it!! I am looking for a training buddy as I am going to need lots of help and encouragement and I do not have any friends who are into running. Have been running (jogging!) for about a year and have done the Hove park 5k run a couple of times and i think it took about 33 mins.
Hello all - I signed myself and my other half up for this this morning. I think he was a little disconcerted to ge the confirmation email! Roll on April 2010.

Connemara, Lochaber and Stratford for me
I can't wait for this, I only live 5 minutes from the start line so it's nice and easy for me!
I'm a bit gutted that none of the Brighton hills are involved, but it looks like a reasonable route providing the coastal wind isn't kicking up
Thanks Shades.

- 7th Mar Duchy

- 18th Apr Brighton
- 25th Apr London / Stratford
- 9th May Halstead
This is called 'doing a Hippo' I believe.are your IM days over now??

Is anyone out there intersted?? Cheers
I'm in! I got a place on the early bird offer. I entered the morning it opened. I think it will be hugely over-subscribed.
Worthing dawdler- Hi!!! good to see you are doing it too.
I only live 8 miles from Brighton so i will maybe try running some of the course as training.
