That's good news that you didn't get any IT pain!!! Did you tape your knee to prevent the patella pain? 2 miles is STILL 2 miles. Do you have a threshold distance when the IT band pain comes on?
I might do a small run Mon/Tues but no kickboxing or cycling, though I have to teach on Tues and Thurs - but both at the new Dojo where the classes are very small and the kids are young - so it shouldn't be a problem - except when I have to do hundreds of push ups with them!!!
Agree with Paul, Keith - it was weird yesterday doing "only" 7 miles. Mind you that felt hard enough in the heat!! Too true Keith about the nerves. I kept looking at my watch yesterday and thinking, "this time next week..........."
Good luck with all the last-minute stuff this week everyone like getting your running number, sorting kit, travel etc.
Karen, my race was a bit of a disaster. I had an asthma attack part way round. I had only just been diagnosed less than a month before the race with exercise induced asthma. I did it in 6:50.
As for the pace of the run, that's entirely based on what you've been doing in training. Myself and two of the other JGRs were running quite slowly as we weren't after times, but the RW pace group runs the 5 minutes very quickly!
I would say that if you can't recover in the 1 minute walk, then you need to run slower, but if you're anxious for the 1 minute walk to be over then perhaps you can run a bit quicker. Just remember it's a very long way
Just doing a quick round of the VLM threads. If anyone is looking for a train ticket from the NW (Macclesfield) to London, please message me. Depart 16th April morning, Return 17th April evening. It might even suit a football fan going down for the semi's. I've got a spare now as my daughter cant make it. Selling at cost £23.
Dear all, also very excited. This week is going to go by slowly. Want to run! After moaning about all the running I've tried to fit into my life, I am now missing it!
Will have to find a half marathon for the autumn I think.
andyp - I'm with you on that - sore throat, runny nose, cough - pah!! I'm also at the blue start - so I reckon we really should do our own 'get round team' if RW don't have one in the blue for us!!!
Oh no!! That's rotten andyp!! It seems all the hand rub gel inthe world hasn't stopped me from catching a similar thing (though I'm waking up because everything hurts!)
Koprano - on your registration form that you take with you to the expo (to get your running number) you'll find your running number, in my cold induced panic I can't remember if this is the same as your registration number!!
Does anyone know about the 'track your runner' thing? I tweeted @LondonMarathon yesterday to ask but they decided to ignore me.... lol!! Maybe they don't know yet?
So, I hereby declare the start of the Blue JGR team!! Yay!!!
Ok - confession time - I'm being v thick lately. I've been reading the thread and kept seeing JGR, and I was thinking "Junior Great Run"? The penny dropped earlier today
Tracking app. - It looks like this is not working any more.
I will be carrying a small old mobile and will text my family when i start get to 6 half and 18. I will be run walking so can text just the number on the 1 minute walk stage where its not a fluid stop.
I would love to join another runner for JGR my reg number is 7744

Hi Sue R
Good luck with your time, I would be thrilled if I could get round in 5.30, but quite agree its getting round that counts.
x
Have to admit that this tapering lark is murder!! After all the miles we have all put in it seems strange to be only running 5's, then 4, etc!!
Really looking forward to next weekend. Have to admit nerves have started and wont ease off until the big gun goes next Sunday at 9.30!
Good luck to everyone - have waited such a long time for this and want to enjoy every second.

NOT LONG TO GO!!!!!!
Paul
just 5 to go and I have a new blister on my foot about the size of 20p. Great
26 miles with a blister before I start.
Will compede and zinc tape before the race with plenty of vaseline. Not sure what else i can do.
I hope the RW get you round team are easy to find , but think they are only in the red zone.
Koprano - fingers crossed for you. Your idea sounds good.
We can form our own "get round team" from the blue start!
I've been suffering with cold/hay fever since Sunday - runny nose, sore throat and a v annoying cough that won't go away.
Does your registration number = your running number?
Like idea of our own JGR blue team.
Hi DdD
It's soooo annoying isn't it? I was awake at 3:30 this morning coughing away - grrrrr! Let's go for the Blue JGR team!!
Koprano - on your registration form that you take with you to the expo (to get your running number) you'll find your running number, in my cold induced panic I can't remember if this is the same as your registration number!!

MWW and DdD - hope you feel better soon too!

Hi Koprano
Are you going out of red or blue
Colin I am out of Blue
Any one want to join me as a running buddy? I am planning run 4 mins walk 1
Hi All
At the Expo I spoke to Andy Dixon from Runners World and he confirmed there is a JGR team at the blue start.
So..... we can either do their own thing or join this group.
