Name: Mike Jarman Reason why we should train you: Although I am still 16st (was 18st 4lbs) I am tall dark with blue eyes so take great piccies (although I do sweat so you couldn't put me on the cover) Marathon goal: Its my first so sub 4 would be good - though sub 3:15 is my ultimate goal Marathon PB: As I say its the first my half pb is 1:35 but I was nearly 20 years younger and another stone lighter.
Other comments - both Emma (above) anf Girlie (last months Fetch fav member winner) are both stonking people so if you don't want a fat old bloke (47) can I heartily recommend either of them!
Oh bugger. I've just found out that I've got a club place. Blimmin' typical. Am I too late?
Pick me coz I'm a really nice bloke. I had a crappy time between 2003 and 2005 but life is looking a hell of a lot brighter now.
I've been running on and off (mainly off) for 25 years. I used to play badminton a lot but I gave that up when I couldn't get my socks on in the morning.
I would like to second Sarahbob because I would find it interesting to follow her progress as a fellow mum (that's if I don't get selected myself, of course) and she's already proved her determination by running at 41 weeks pregnant!
Also seconding Evil Pixie because, having read her blog many times, I think she would be an interesting person to follow, with lots of detailed and inspiring insights.
So many great/interesting/determined/up-for-it people to vote for, shame everyone can't benefit.
We're still waiting on a few minor things to fall into place, so we've had to postpone the news until tomorrow. Sorry about this, but please keep your eyes peeled to the homepage tomorrow morning.
Reading back through the nominations it is clear that there are some runners who have a track record of training hard and striving to give of their best (Wardi and Joolska spring to mind) and others for whom offering training advice may be wasted effort as you can already see the excuses for not perfoming in the past shining through.
I'd think anyone threatening to run in a costume is taking the p*** out of the race in general and other people wanting to genuinely train hard in particular.
As for it being regular contributors deserving a place more than relatively new posters, it depends what you mean by contributor. Wardi writes intelligent supportive posts about his and others' training. Others prefer the 3 word post genre on the social threads.
I hope the advice goes to genuine runners, as those who have been around here a while will remember the advances that can be made from the Mike Gratton experiment from 2004-05. Committed runners were chosen (of all abilities) and one runner went from a 3.26 marathon to a 2.56 by showing commitment and training hard. Let's see more of the same RW.

Damn. I was thinking of going disguised in my usual fancy dress costume of "a serious runner."
Comments
name: Emma Marshall-Telfer(very posh name but saves the cost of a wedding, which means I can spend the money saved on kit)
reasons:
1. Because I so desperately need to get my mojo back before 13th April.
2.I am buddying 2 other FLM virgins, as this is year 2 for me(gulp, I really could do with the advice)
3. RW is way better than that other running mag, who incidently are offering to coach FLMers(very very sad that they pinch RW ideas.)
4.I won't give up trying until I do a good for age time.
goal: good for age sub 3.45hr
pb: FLM 07 4.33hr
I would also like to nominate Girlie, as she could do with bucketfuls of confidence at the mo!

Vote fat face.
I second Fat Face but tell whoever is coaching to NEVER run behind or to the side of him
I think the ever-lovely Daniel RW said 'by Thursday'.
<smiles sweetly at Daniel RW>

So they didn't decide to give us an early surprise then?
I think Sezz and Fat Face together would be kinda cool.
(At risk of putting myself out of a job.)
And RichK is probably one of the forumites who has given the most back to the forum.
Good luck everyone!
*twiddles thumbs*
Has he been yet?

I just want to be fit enough and race ready on the day to do the event justice. After last years problems that would be good for me.
Happy Christmas everyone and a very healthy 2008.. Hope to see many of you around the events during the year,.
