S'posed to be a secret, but I'll let you in on it anyway, as it's rather good - I intend doing it as Cardinal Ximinez of the Spanish Inquisition, along with a small selection of handheld torture equipment - I did think of dragging along an Iron Virgin with me, but it would have proved a bit of a drag (IYKWIM ).
Ordered 8 yards of crimson & scarlet robing material from the hoisers, but as my sewing skills are a tad rusty, it could take me up to mid April to get it prepared.
..and the obligatory large can of Stella at Mudchute.
just turning off the email response as I wont be back at work until after the new year. I will drop in here over the holiday but do not wont 500 emails sitting in my in box when I get back to work
Keith L, there are a couple of hills and a couple of loops which can be a bit mind blowing! But the scenery is nice and it is very well supported. Loads of marshalls armed with jelly babies.
I agree with the current Mrs F - although I did select a wine gum at the bottom of one of the climbs last year, and had to wait until I had got my breath back before I could do anything with it! The first time I did the new course, I ended up trying to race the ferry into Ramsgate, although last year they had changed the time of it; any idea what time it is due in in 2008?
Keith I think the little loops (there are only 2 small sections) are only really a problem if your a local and know the area well. If your not you probably wont even realise your doubling back on yourself.
Hmmm Ferry Racing ? now that sounds like a new sport
As for ferry racing, I believe they used to do it out of Dover when P+O and Stena were separate companies - one of them used to run 15 minutes slower than the other, but if it left port first, that was enough to ensure that it would berth first on the other side!
Thank goodness for that - I thought I'd killed this thread with my comment about ferry racing. Still, anything's better than discussing corn plasters...
13 miles today, but I could have done without the newly-ploughed field halfway round; a nasty shock as it hasn't been touched for the last three years! My time would have rated as a PW for a half, so I've got quite a way to go yet!
Well done that man, the fact is that you were out there and not shirking. We all know that there is no rhyme nor reason to this running lark and that next week it will be entirely different. For me i have spent the day in a cafe drinking beer, so who am i to be dishing out advice??????
So " a couple of hills" - what does that mean? Reference Tadworth 10 would be good as that's a recent memory!
Am doing this as part of FLM build up, and wondering how much specific hill training to do for it (I live and hence train in lovely flat Central London). Did Tadworth for the second time this year and doing some specific hills made a real difference to the time and the pain
Longish shallow climb up towards the Viking Ship, a short steeper climb up Nero's hill and a short sharp shock up the chine on the way back - and then a nice long shallow run down towards the finish!
The course has spectacular scenery,, so much so that you won't even notice the hills. The only thing to be wary of are those people who give you jelly babies at the start of one of the hills. I made the mistake of popping it in my mouth and then nearly asphyxiated (?) because I couldn't breathe!!!!!!
it would be interesting running along the route at this moment in time though!

Good to have you back on the Forum Snoop. Your outfit sounds a great idea - after all, nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.
Ever thought of running the whole route saying "Clippety-Clop" as you go?
Thanks Mr CdC! Good to be back after so long away.
No, I haven't! What a wierd idea!
Have you then?
Yee hah!
I still fancy being a pink cowgirl at FLM

Have a great Christmas everyone
Hey all. Just signed up for this as part of build up to FLM. Any inside info on the course or hints and tips?
Keith
Thanks - not a great fan of lopps but I guess needs must and makes a change from running long distances on your own
Is that a new Olympic sport Sir C de C? Racing ferrys?

Thanks Mark - not a local so hopefully wont realise.
Lets get a campaign going for Ferry Racing to be in 2012 - give us a chance to grab a few golds
Well put, current Mrs F!

Was great fun last year and definitely got the best memento !! hehe

Ive just entered, this was one of my best runs last year and enjoyed every bit of it!
