Thank you! the oldish pair it is then. woot!all excited now..booked my b&b and everything! The poor man seemed a little bemused at me booking 5 months in advance though
Cheers, Tutu Much. How about this? if you don't enjoy it, i'll pay your entry fee
Heh heh, I'll remember you said that Swittle!
There were a lot of Alnwick Harriers at the Liversedge Half yesterday, you guys really stood out! I was trying to keep up with 2 ladies right near the start, you know how you sort of pick people to try and keep in sight / keep up with / stay ahead of etc? Anyway I lost them really early on and literally only caught them up again right as we crossed the finish line! (I told one of them this). So there's my little anecdote of the day. It made me happy anyway.
Tutu - spotted you lurking on another thread! We have booked our accommodaiton already - but that's mainly cos there's 10 of us already signed up from our club plus a few who are thinking of doing it and we all wanted to stay in the same place. We are here Sportsman Inn It is not the cheapest but it was one of the few places close by that we could find that could fit us all in.
Ooh, thanks for the link.. looks v nice but you are right about the price. Stoxy - do you know what you are doing yet? ie. whether you need accommodation? I'll talk to you about it weds!
Used to be a B n B in Alnmouth, 150 yds from finish called Copper Beech, I think. Did the run last in 2000 and stayed there. Owner got up at 6am to cook my breakfast - I kid you not.
Looked for it on Northumberland tourist site but didn't find it. I've got a tel. no. for it if you're interested but it may not be current; indeed, the Copper Beech may no longer be offering accomms.
Hello All, my first post on runners world! I've entered this race this year, i can't wait, it'll be my first ever race although i have been running regularly for over a year, just not 14 miles yet! Does anyone know how long it takes to find out if you have a confirmed place in the event? I was hoping to do a bit of fundraising but wanted to wait until i new if i had a place or not. Thanks
Everyone who has entered online or through the post so far will be in. We've been inundated with entries and I ask that you all wait a little longer - I'll be starting to process the entries and cash your cheques at Easter weekend. I have kept all the envelopes in date order so places will be allocated fairly. Whilst we've been inundated, we aren't oversubscribed yet. PLEASE DON'T PANIC and please don't enter online if you have already entered through the post. Double entries and stopped cheques will cause me more work. Trust me. The only people who might have a problem are the few who didn't put the right postage on.The Post Office won't deliver them and we won't pay the excess fee. The Post Office eventually return them to the sender apparently.
I've just finished inputting all the postal entries received during January and I'll pop them in the post box Tuesday morning - they should be with you all Wed or Thurs.
I've organised some help for next weekend to tackle my February pile. I reckon I'll have the backlog cleared by mid-April and then I'll be able to keep on top of things as I'll be into my taper for Lochaber. Thank you all for being so patient.
This sounds a great event. One of my favourite parts of the world so can't wait.
It'll be my first half for over 5 years after persistent calf/ achilles problems so I'm crossing my fingers for a finish in 2 hours or so. Its only in the last 6 months I've even been able to think of a race and hopefully my injury problems are now firmly behind me.
Its also the mid-point of my preparations for my first marathon in Nottingham in September so, at the age of 47, I'm hoping that the training goes according to plan and I can finally achieve this long-standing ambition.

Does anybody know what accommodation there is in the area or where to look?

if youve entered online youve got a place!
its one of the best views in any run outside the cheviots or the lakes!
alnwick harriers do a splendid job and deserve " no 1 race in uk" for this one.
you're not wrong there, phil.
Ah, i sent my application by post a few weekes since, i hadn't come across the online entry form back then
Anne - if it's not too cheeky to ask could you check to see if my entry form has been received - Andrew Marwood, i'm not affiliated to anywhere
Many thanks and if i have got a place i can't wait, the event sounds excellent
