I have had a bit of a saga with orthotics - current version seems to be making achilles/peroneal tendon worse and I have rather lost faith in the podiatrist (who call himself a biomechanist - is there such a profession?) . Fellow runner has recommended Podiatry Plus in Sale - but she only had her corns sorted, not orthotics or gait analysis. Anyone tried them?

Hi I've not been to pod splus but I would whole heartedly recommend my podiatrist in Altrincham. I have orthotics of her and gait analysis and the other pod there works with the FLM. Can't thank them enough, they are lovely,
Go and see Rachael at http://www.instepfootcare.co.uk/
I had some orthrotics made to cure shin splints (compartment syndrome) by Axis Podiatry. The woman, Lyndsey seemed very professional and the orthrotics have a lifetime guarantee too. I had a full biomechanical assessment and gait analysis done using a pressure pad mat to see where I put the most pressure during walking runing, then the orthrotics were custom made from the results. Needless to say, my shin is fine now.
They cost £300 but seems worth it in the end after 3+ years of on/off running
