Great race at Paddock wood as always. Although there was still a big queue for the baggage area with 5 mins to the start luckily I was ok but Im sure some may have mised the start.
My chip time has me as 90 seconds quicker than my watch time, I dont think it took me 90 secs to cross the line but I wotn complain as thts a PB!!!
What's happenning with the chip times? Anyone know if there were any probs with them at all?
I must say that the chip times don't feel right to me, I have been "credited" with over a minute on my "gun" finish time (and my stopwatch), yet it took me about 10-15 seconds max to cross the start line...
Nevertheless, it was a great race and I have beaten my PB by almost 3 minutes (perhaps 4 minutes if the chip time is the official time...)!
I think I enjoyed that - though as it was my fastest PW ever, I'm also a little sore now (I was at the time). Great to see Snoop Dogg and Tiger on the course - well done Tiger on the new PB!
Bleedin hell hipps, sub 2!!! you're gonna have to change your name soon to speedy hippo. Does this mean a 4 hour marathon(s) next week .
Tracey, meant to say thanks for bringing the water anyway, I was looking for you all before the start but didn't see anyone till we were lined up for the start.
Well done to everyone again for your pb's, I was happy not to get a personal worst, my legs really knew they were up and out an hour early despite what the clocks said, it took me over an hour to get going. The 1/2m itself took me less than 30 mins more than the time it took to run the 10 miles there (does that make sense?)
Well done Hipps, perhaps if not a name change, a suffix might be appropriate.
Nice to meet Sunlover en route - good luck at Stratford. Also good to meet Fat Buddah and Petal as I wandered back to get my bag after finishing in a less than impressive time (I don't seem to have a chip time at all) whether by gun or garmin.
Sunluver - Nice to meet you. Sorry I did not meet you before the start line. Hope you were not too thirsty. What time did you do the half in? I could not manage 13.1 mile, let alone 23.1 miles. You must take up ultras.
There definitely was something wrong with the chips, though I cannot imagine why given the technology. I started my Garmin on the hooter and my clock time agreed exactly with Garmin at 2h08:05 and it took me 1min 10 to cross the start line, therefore chip time should have been 2:06:55 but I was given 2:06:15
There seem to be an awful lot of folk on here with the same problem for it to be a coincidence. At least I got 40 secs off my time and even without those "cheating" 40 secs it would still have been a PB by 3 mins so I am well pleased too.
I think the problem with the chip times is simply that this particular system, while a cheaper alternative to the Championchip system used at FLM and other big races, simply can't cope with lost of people going under the sensors at once. Even the people at the front who crossed the line as the gun went have big differences in gun & chip time, and some of us have no chip time at all. So basically I would ignore the chip time.
Apart from that, as a late entrant running this race for the first time I should say a big thanks to all the organisers & marshalls. And a special thanks to those standing out there trying to hand out wet sponges. You never know what the weather is going to do at this time of year but in the end there can't have been many takers yesterday!

RedOrDead
Ooh - move to Kent Hippo!!! And bliddy well done again on that PB
My theory is that the chip times are currently gun to chip rather than chip to chip - cos that would sort it out for me. Possible?
Was a great race though - I had a great time, lovely to meet various Fetchies. Sorry I didn't get to meet you Hipps - you were way ahead of me;-)
I cant work out what is wrong with th echip times, I think there is just an error.
I was 90 secs quicker on the chip time but I reckon it took me 5 secs to cross the start line.. Oh well maybe I'll call it a pb
Just seen that sunluver did 23 miles

I met up with treacle on the way round and thought you were behind me Hippo! I didn't see you go past...........

Oh and the man in the stocks
I had to run back to get another sponge to wedge down his neck as he was looking so warm and toasty.
Thanks again to all the marshalls, without them these things would just not happen
