  • There doesn't seem to be a box for Iain Balshaw...
  • Really I wonder why ? image Williams been the best all 6 nations but bet you all the england go for Jonny like a heard of sheep image
  • Just voted there are not even any england players on it. Says it all image
  • crashie - if anything came into Balshaw's box he'd either be miles away or drop it......

I've voted for Ryan Jones - yes, Ickle has been the flash player of the tournament with his dancing feet and glorious tries but Ryan has been the guy who has gelled Wales on the pitch as skipper and led by example getting stuck in when needed. not flash but a solid hard grafter.....

I hope to be running the Bath 1/2 on Sunday with a hangover......
  • Although I am a non-welshie I think R Jones has been superb. I am glad as I told all and sundry he was the new golden boy and he had gone off the boil so glad I ain't losing my touch image

btw......Dan Parks is the new Dan Carter. You heard it here first.

Scotland to nick it. And score one try.

    Ireland to win.

Wales v France - I think one of two things will happen.

    1. Wales will nick it in a helter-skelter game (nod to Bill McLaren)

    2. France to win AND get the 20 point margin. If anyone can do it against the Welsh, they can.

  • I think Wales for the championship, although I think tommorrow is difficult to predict for W. v. F.

Obviously I would love Wales to do it, and whatever happens I hope it is a good game and even if we don't win, there isn't a loss of the sense of what has been achieved by this coaching team and squad of players in such a short sense of time, because the turnaround from the World Cup has been immense

Hopefully this time it will continue, unlike 2005

Anyone know if the big screen is going up in Cardiff again for tomoz??
  • I hope to be running the Bath 1/2 on Sunday with a hangover...... Bet you'll still beat me by at least an hour FB image

Who asked about quilt porn?? It's what hubby calls my quilting books andmagazines as I spend as long reading them as he does reading jazz mags

  • barking - big screen is going up - coopers field i think
  • I'm starting to get excited, why does it have to be the last game?

Have I mentioned that I know Ryan? You know you are getting old when you are friends with the players parents.

  • I voted for Ryan though I would have voted for Henson had he been there. The transformation this season into a solid no nonsense inside centre has been superb, nothing flash just the basics done perfectly every time. Reminds me of myself when I was younger.
  • FORZA AZZURRI!!! image

Hope the rest of the games are that exciting.

Can we get rid of Andy Nicholls please? He's too biased and not at all gracious in defeat. Surely MOTM was Parisse - and he's much better looking!

PS: Thanks for the explanation Kwilter - should really have guessed it from your name image

  • PPS: England 0 - Ireland 10 image

    Ashton is toast...

  • Oops - did Ireland shock themselves into playing rubbish? Taxi for EOS!

Well done England! image And a chance to come second, who'd have thunk it?!?

  • Well done to the men in red. A deserved win and fitting that the warrior Williams got the clinching try.

We (scotia) got exactly what we deserved.

  • not technically the wooden spoon but we got it in spirit for our negative play, and losing to Italy.
  • How disappointing - France didn't really seem up for that. Where's all the attacking flair gone?

    image

Very well done Wales - thoroughly deserved Grand Slam. Good luck for the Bath Half, FB!

And now England have come second because Ireland were so rubbish!!! image

Hopefully Lievremont has learnt what he needs to and can put a proper team together for next year.

  • I was surprised that the French didn't realistically ever look like winning. Not really.

And then you look at Sale's win today and you think perhaps a Chabal presence might have made a difference? probably not enough to win the championship but maybe the game.

    who knows. probably not.

Wales were very good. I think the key was their discipline in the first half when France had possession and some territory but Wales did not give away many penalties.

  • Maybe, Dude. He might be good as an impact player, I'm not sure his style of play fitted in with France in the past. Still the scrum is a real problem so they obviously need someone. They also need a player who can kick off in the right direction! So bad it was funny, Brian Moore saying "Give that man a chocolate egg". Oh and they also need some fast ball. I'm sure the reason they had so much possession was because Ellisalde spent about 5 mins. recycling each ball.

ARGGHHH! Getting cross now - I'm off to get myself a chocolate egg image

  • Ireland sacked Gatland and put his assistant O'Sullivan in.  Says it all really.  What a waste of a generation.

  • Terrific result at the weekend and a thoroughly deserved Grand Slam...

...but Enough about England U20 image

No really, a terrific result at the weekend and a thoroughly deserved Grand Slam...

...but enough about England Women image

Enough fooling with my Welsh chums, that's terrific news. Many congratulations, it's nice to see the side that played the rugby win the 6N...

Didn't see any of the matches as we were in Wales, Squish ran Rhayader and I spectated, so had to make do with the radio commentaries. Aren't the BBC wonderful? We managed to miss an England try because there was 'a penalty at Bristol City'. Ho hum.

Not surprised that Scotland got edged out by Italy, especially when Hadden doesn't seem to have a clue what he's doing with his selections. Mallet, however, has done a terrific job with Italy and must be one of only two coaches secure in their job.

England managed to beat Ireland fairly convincingly, though apparently Ireland were awful. A change of coach for Ireland, but has Coco unfortunately done enough to stay in a job? Cipriani did well; Noon has probably also cemented his place for a while, though I still don't consider him the best man for the job.

Wales/France was a bit of a disappointment in terms of the quality of the game; I expected Wales to be a little tense with so much riding on the result, but they came through it brilliantly in the end. France however, seemed to have no cutting edge whatsoever, which must be a big worry. They've now bombed out against England and Wales, struggled against Ireland in the second half  and seem to have no settled team. Lievrement must be under pressure...

Overall, a well-deserved championship for Wales...and without significant changes in the other 5 nations, it's looking like more of the same next year.

  • Crashie, if you had listened to BBC Wales you would get the England game in full. Wendyball knows its place in Wales.

I think Wales U20 will take the grandslam next year. Some lads coming up with talent.

  • Crashie - dead on about Hadden.

I am so conflicted about him. I like him and feel he is a good coach and a decent guy.

However, he does play favourites and makes some odd choices selection-wise.

That said, i don't think the team  will benefit from a change for now.

  • Sorry about this but the "which animal would win in a fight" argument has reached a ridiculous new depth in our house so here goes with our Animal First XV.

    1 Bull

    2 Elephant

    3 Buffalo

    4 Rhino

    5 Moose

    6 Gorilla

    7 Polar Bear

    8 Horse (Irish Draught)

    9 Chimpanzee

    10 Dog (border collie)

    11 Cheetah

    12 Lion

    13 Puma

    14 Gazelle

    15 Dog (Greyhound)

     Subs forwards:

    Wild boar, ape, horse (Suffolk)

    Subs backs:

    kangaroo, fox, meerkat

  • I'd have a giraffe in the second row as your go-to man in the lineout, perhaps a bat at blindside; I'd certainly have a bluebottle at fly half and a camel at full back.
  • Bluebottle is a masterstroke of a selection.  Neither Ashton nor O'Sullivan had that sort of vision and it showed.  We thought about a giraffe too but doubted the leg strength.

  • + lol at those lots Crash Hamster

  • V. funny DTG. Just the right thing to cheer up a rainy Friday image

What about a hippo in the front row? They're surprisingly fast on land you know, they'd be really good at crashing over the try line from a few yards out.

Also I think you need a baboon at no. 9, I think they'd make an excellent snipey sort of scrum-half in the mouthy style of Austin Healey.

BTW: France are already using a meerkat. If you look at Ellisalde at a maul he always looks up before passing the ball. image

    Just sorting out shocking spelling!
