Recently joined Cardiff Tri and the coach has been lovely and patient with me. Can BS until the cows come home but finding FC quite frightning because of the head in water thing... making steady progress but endurance still very poor. Can now FC 25m lengths but need a 20sec breather at each end... Hoping to be able to be able to build on it and am determined to practice... I know it all "in my head" but I do get quite panicky when I miss a breath for example... I'll see how much progress I can make in 4-5 weeks....
Would be fun as my birthday is on the 14h...
How are you Pebble, after the "Pebble v. Van" incident?
Nam - I still think you are underestimating your abilities.
As for renting the wettie - the reason I would rent is is because having a whole stack of money come out of my bank account at once would damage my ego. The fact that they take the full amount out of your account anyway is pointless. May as well buy an ex hire one
Well, I want to hire the wetsuit, so that if I dont like it or if my back causes me grief again, I get £75 back when I return the suit and it has only cost me £25 plus the postage. On top of that I wont have a wetsuit lying about the place that I will never use again.
I have no issues with them taking the value of the suit off my card for the duration of the hire, seems sensible practice from a rental point of view...
Well I can honestly say I almost sh*t myself when I saw how long a 50m pool actually is
...but HELLOOOOO,.... I actually managed to do a length without stopping.... we took breaks after each lengths... our breaks got shorter as our little hearts settled down quicker... I haven't FC'd further than 25m before without a rest so felt pleased... We managed 17 lengths (850m) with breaks but then our form went to pot and we were krackered. We were in the pool for about an hour...
Much deserved panini and hot chocolate afterwards.
I remember looking at the length of the swim at London last year and thinking "how the f*ck am I going to be able to swim all that in one go" It looked a whole lot longer than 1500m
Yes the Llanelli salt water pool is shallow enough to stand in most parts, all depends on how tall you are really.
After the man v van contest I can say that the van most deffo won, but I am repairing more each day. Sadly that is not the case with my bike which is RIP.
I would have been tempted to have a go at this as the timing is good but I shall now be attending a wedding on the day instead - and getting bladdered no doubt.....

Nam dear, you can walk parts of the swim! Infact on the DVD from last year I can clearly be seen standing up at one point
Ohhh, that is ok then, we will walk the swim

Agreed.
I am kind of hoping that if the wetsuit is there, I will do more triathlons...
Although I am sure that's why I brought my karate gi over as well, and I am not using that much either
