TriTalkMan - May 2008

Greeting earthlings, from the planet TriTalk. I come in peace.image

Do any of you lot fancy doing a free full or half IronMan distance event? It's 'self-supported' hence free. We're currently looking at early May 2008, May 3rd poss, or 10/11th... We could do with some friendly pirate types to swell numbers. More details on the TriTalk thread. Any ideas/input welcomed.

It's based at Market Bosworth in Leicestershire, 1485 Tri's open water swimming lake.

Bike is 6 Laps of 30km, using the junction or the boot of your car as the aid station. From the junction to the Water Trust car park is about 400m, so you could end up doing an extra 2km! 6 Laps could be a little boring, but logistically it's the best bet, to be sure of refilling every hour. Each loop only has 61m of climbing, so the total ascent is just 366m.

The Run is out and back along the Ashby-de-la-Zouch canal path. A nice, forgiving, compacted canal path. You won't find a flatter marathon than this, with a total ascent of approximately 100m (self-calculated). The turn around point is at Snarestone. At this 'aid' station is a pub and a payphone, perfect for a Guinness whilst calling back to the finish to order your finishers meal to be thrown on the BBQ for an hour or two's time!
