See www.comrades.co.za there is a load of info on the site, including training and a forum.
The route is obviously tough but there is good crowd support considering the distance. The cut off times are brutal, but I imagine they're there for a reason!
and I am really pleased for you Gobi You deserve it!!!
My Comrades build up appears to be developing a life of it's own again... I've found myself entered into the new improved London to Brighton trail race in October 2009 At least there's plenty of time to train...
You have to get your entry in relatively soon for next year though. This year is full and they already have 20+ entries in for 2009, and it's not a huge limit
No point in waiting till 2010 - I'm in for 2009 !!
Didnt think I could make it as my son is taking 2 GCSEs a year early in June, but the change of date has now made this possible - it must be fate ! Wife is happy as its a holiday in S Africa (she is very supportive of my overseas marathons)
Now all I need to do is sort out a training schedule - dont think I'll ask Gobi, I want to survive the coming months !
Rach and I have been in Wales doing a spot of short course mountain trail running 11.4 miles Saturday and 18 miles today(first time Rach had been beyond 15 miles EVER)
The results
Saturday - 3rd overall for me and 2nd lady for Rach Sunday - 1st overall at a canter for me and 1st lady for Rach
We both won the combined event as well, £150 to bank between us and accommodation/petrol paid for. NICE
Only downer was yesterday during the hard climbs, my fatigued hamstrings played up and this cost me second place. At todays easy pace I had no issues at all and just slowly ran away from the field.

Why May? I thought they were now having it on the closest Sunday to their National Youth Day??

Never done a race that involves map reading!! Oooher!
Just been reading the blurb. Sounds great but map reading and compasses, I may have to find a different long ultra!!
Me neither Kaz... it's quite scary, but good to step out of the comfort zone now and then
Joe... which one, Comrades or London to Brighton...or both

I see you have joined the forum Joe
I'll be 40 in May 2010.
