Depends on how icy/frosted course is baz.
  • GIRO stop using my excuses.
  • I hope there's no ice tomorrow - I have a 2 hour ride planned!

I work on a Monday to Sunday running week. I think mainly as I view Monday as the start of the week generally.

Me too but I do think that it is very enlightened of Diddz to use the Muslim week for his running diary. In Egypt my LDR would be early Friday when the rest of the country was akip or doing the Mosque business.

Sounds good Aitch! Both the swimming and the chillin' image So who's running in the park tomorrow? Lady P, think Bex said she might be? Anyone else? Might come down and have a watch.
Might do but planning on doing a run tomorrow. Don`t have a printer accessible to get bar coded otherwise I might be tempted to parkrun. However, Cake told me that 5k is a gay distance and I ought to spare a thought for Bosa Sunday.
  • ET- Nothing Gay about 5k. a painful race is a 5k

Baz - only stopping me last few times was the ice on small lap(18th Dec) and the two ponds(8th jan)

Likewise, don't have a printer here at Chez Stu, otherwise I may have been tempted myself.

Are there any other gay distances or is 5K the only one? And if so which is the "straightest" of the straight distances?

Yeah but GI, you`re a short race specialist and you don`t run many longer ones; whereas I`m in GB`s Top 100 half-marathoners and was the SSC`s quickest over 26.2 in 2010. image
  • I get the award for being the slowest!! image
  • TBH if you've registered and know your barcode number they can sort it manually - so no excuses guys on not doing Parkrun 'cos I don't have my barcode'.

    Hope to be there tomorrow.

  • what about lee at stratford marathon?

not really ET, 5k is classed as long distance by wikipeadia  but i disagree, my favourite distances are 10k and 1/2marathon and are long distance. I  want to do 3 halfs, saab saloman x-trail, a 10miler and two marathon this year.

  • ET have you demoted LS21 from the SSC?

Fell runs I think Stu - though ET's boast of doing an 'urban fell run' round Graves Park is equally as gay as a 5k run.

And Wikipedia is classed as bollocks by most folk. I know you raced loads in 2010, but how many races over 10k did you do? You`re our speed freak GI!

Yes. He lives in Barnsley and so is a `guest` on this thread (created by a Chesterfield lass!?). image

    lol!

that fb status was conceived with ssc influence. as i was running, i did think that stu and diddz would enjoy this! honestly! i even wore my `trail shoes`!

marathon is the only truly `straight` distance. i`ve heard that some runners go topless on the fells. enough said.

  • Good luck all you park run dudes image

Me Mozster has x country tomorrow so I'll be embarrassing him in the morning - otherwise would have brought the kids down to cheer you all on!

If we're being real geeks, techniquely anything over 1,500m is long distance.

Sounds like you enjoyed your run ET, look forward to hearing your TT race report! image

Never a truer word spoken by someone who hasn't done a fell run image

Fell running is so straight that men feel safe to run topless (a bit like Newcastle fans at a match when its -5).

Yeah, I wonder whose most excited - Moz or Major Moz?
  • ET, not denying I like speed but DIDNT choose a rae because it was 10k or  under. they just seemed to be the ones that came up t right time. Not enough halfs in the south yorkshire area and i dont drive so need to enter races in sheffield area.

    2010 races

    12 x parkruns

    1 x 5k

    9 x trunces

    5 x 5miles (4 SY road league)

    4 x 10ks inc a trail 10k

    1 x 7.5mile fell race

    3x cross country 8k-10k

1 x saab salomon  x trail10mile but did 11.3miles due to fuck up

    2 x 3-4mile fell races

    1 x half marathon

    1x 3mile charity run

but  on longer distances would still expect to average on road 6min 40sec over 10mile 6min 50sec over half and looking at 7min for marathon this year in may.

  • Running a race less than full race pace is GAY. just ask the man

To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.
    Steve Prefontaine

A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Sh ould be no such thing asusing a race as a training run. imageimageimage

So is that 2 or 3 races over 10km then? I did 12.

Completely agree about needing more local races.Did you not fancy Bosa? Nice race. Are you racing next weekend? Might be able to give lift if you fancy Meltham, unless Didds lends me his scout`s kitfor TT, whatever that  is!

  • Not looked at the link but Steve Prefontaine is a very gay name.

  • I found longer races boring. I found the mile just perfect.
