cougie - Jens said he's a bit hazy about the crash, but he knows he went too close to a fence when going pretty fast, front wheel hit something and jerked into the barrier, he sailed over the top and just barely missed hitting a tree.
so who else has had the email with the contenders for the finish line performance..............was it me or did they all seem really lame.....................
why wasn't the pirate congo up there.............................probably because they were worried that they would have to give them all a place......................
Just picked up the email this morning and thought the same thing. OK, I could have picked a couple of better looking Pirates to improve the 'most attractive' rating, but our humble efforts *must* have been better than some of those piss poor attempts. Some were so rubbish it was hard to tell who was supposed to the 'attractive' one.
Oh well, will have to console myself with the 'most less crap than last year' award instead ...
Kanga.....nice to finish on a positive note, as said they were pretty poor efforts, but if the Swiss sense of humour is anything like the Germans, enough said. coz i do not get their sense of humour at all
I'm a long time forum watcher - but not much on the posting.
I've entered IM Zurich for 2010; flying with BA and I've booked the hostel in a dorm room - I wanted to be cerrtain of having a place to stay and the booking was only £6, so not too fussed if I change my plans at this stage!
I was hoping some of you might be able to offer some tips on the hostel? I'm a little worried about how safe my bike will be, can I keep it in the room - not sure how safe it will be in a dorm room... etc.
Also any hints on flying with a bike; not something I've done before. I rpesume a bike box is essential - and I'm looking at the £150ish one on wiggle?
I do hope to become a much more regular poster for 2010; I might even stump up and buy a pirate tri suit? I woudl read the thread - but at 486 pages - wow top posting you guys!
The only thing I would say about the dorm rooms is they were pretty small - one of the girls rooms had four bikes in it, and there wasn't really any room left to stand! They all knew each other, but if you were with strangers and they also had bikes, it might be a little stressful...
Apparently they had a bike storage area as well, but I didn't see that - I think most people kept them in their rooms.
Oh, and Barley came back one night and sat on someone who had moved into his bed.... apparently the bed bookings specify which bunk etc, and this bloke was determined to have his booked bunk - even if it had been unknowlingly slept in by Barley for four nights!
I was in a double - no complaints there at all, it was fab.
I bought that box from Wiggle, my bike fitted ok but it is a tight fit. Be careful with the side catches though as when they are new they can be very difficult to undo. I sanded the plastic bits down a bit to get them to work better.
I also flew with BA as they didn't charge extra for bike carriage, I didn't have any problems except on the return flight when the check in people were threatening to charge £25 extra if the box weighed over 23kg even though nothing was mentioned about this in my ticket or at Heathrow. Just weigh your full box before you go so you know what you can carry in it.
I think we were lucky with the hostel because we were mainly sharing with our pirates even if they were stangers pre IMCH........One of our bikes lived in the shower and another kept on visiting another room for peace and quiet............also we had bike bags in the rooms not boxes so easier to store under beds..........not sure how we would have manged with 4 bikes and 4 bike boxes

Tell them we'll do an interview if they buy us all places at Kona (apart from Rosey obviously).
Oh and we'll need one of these to get there (in yellow and black obviously).
Just as well I've crewed one of those things then!

Are there some moments, where it's very hard to be a pirate?
Yes...when I can't keep up with the drinking.
