Phase 1) Train properly for the Vit and aim for sub 6 finish Phase 2) Do lots of long bike rides and dirty x-country runs in winter Phase 3) 'Proper' IM training from March to July
ha ha ha did I say that or just think it - i've got a bad habit of not taking things seriously and need to snap out of it. I think I could possibly have taken 10 minutes off my run time last week if I wasn't being such a lazy slapper - and if I do some proper bike training aiming for sub six should be realistic...... It doesn't mean I think I can do it - just that I feel ought at least to try.
Mitten - I hadn't done an oly before Bala - only sprints - and was amazed how doable it was - even on a boiling hot day. In a way I think being a crap cyclist was an advantage because there was no question of going out too hard too soon.
Gyraffe, my bike is also not great (both the bike & am ability to ride it!!).
At the moment I'm doing:
Monday: Swimming Tuesday: Swimming & circuit training Wednesday: Circuits or swimming in the morning, running club in the evening (6-8 miles) Thursday: Bike, normally an hour & a half. Will be bricks from this week Friday: rest, but could chuck in a little run here Saturday: OW swimming Sunday: Bike, 2-3 hours. Trying to fit in a little run too.
Going to throw in a trip to LL on Thursday mornings when I can.
Rio - ten miles each way 5 days a week is a lot of mileage, and more than some will do in full training.
My aim is to do some commutes to work - 35 miles each way!!
doing a ten mile run then a swim with the tri club tonight, everyone else is training form Im or double IM in next couple of weeks/months so i feel a bit of a slacker.

Of course! Why not?
Now get yer arse out there and start training!!!
I will.....
I mean........ I am
oh puleeze!!!!! I've still got 11 weeks before my 2008 race!
Sorry.
I will take the thread away until a more respectable time

Phase 2) Do lots of long bike rides and dirty x-country runs in winter
Phase 3) 'Proper' IM training from March to July
Sub 6????? Gyraffe!!!
I am hoping for 7.30 and dont expect to achieve anything less no matter how much I train.
You have
I might bookmark this.
Or were you referring to the training bit rather than starting the thread

The training bit.
or
perhaps both
Ok so training tonight involves about 3-4 miles including a rather nice hill over a mile in length and at one point about 12% (or more)
Keep looking at Vit........ entered for my first Oly in July, if I survive that & can still enter Vit I'll consider it.
I'm double training most days now so in theory should be able to manage it.
Yes, but I read your race report from the Oly
Mitten go for it. You are already training more than me so you will be fine at Vit.
I will be double training tomorrow (of sorts)
I have a hilly 20mile commute to and from work then swimming with the tri club

Mitten - when do you run?
Wednesday nights is 'proper' running, but I try to fit it in at other times during the week.
Only just able to run pain free after ITBS from stupid FLM.
Between my first & second sprint tri (Stratford & Bedford) I knocked over 2 minutes off my run time.
x-post!
Didn't want to say 'err, are you blind'
