I am going to post this on both "Do i dare" and "IMCH 2009" Lot's of pirates are saying about topping up medical cover for the IM event re-Snowcard, Dogtag and Sportscover etc, I have just added the IM event as extra cover for race day on my Annual multi-trip policy and it has cost me and extra £3.75, first bargain i have had so far
that is a bargain TB - but the difference being is that you already had an annual policy and could extend the cover.
many doing these events don't have any travel insurance so need to look at cover from scratch and for race cover, many of the standard travel insurance companies don't offer this which is where the 3 mentioned score highly
FB-I agree, Snowcard came up best as a top up insurance, but i put in Triathlon=group 2, (quote £23)but then had some confilicting info and phoned them, person on phone said Ironman was group 5 but was not on there list and quote went up to £37, so thought i would give my current insurance people a call, he first told £7 which i thought was good, but he made a mistake and it was £3.75.
Thankyou for info re chain for my bike, chain reaction sent me a replacement and is hopefully being fitted tonight, was just about to go for 2-3hour bike ride and have either a broken or very loose spoke, so will get that fixed tonight as well.
This time next week, hopefully only a few hours away from Zurich.
tonks Boy...............I think if you were racing and not training then it was stated as 5 if I remember..........can't remember now who i went with but it was one of them
Funkin-I have used www.direct-travel.co.uk for the past few years now, this years renewel for my Annual world wide,multi-trip policy for myself and Mrs TB was £46.80, and as said I phoned them today and added IM to the policy for the one day of the race, (normal swimming, cycling, running is incl ) and the extra cost was £3.75. They are based at Shoreham Airport,West sussex, if you booked today, policy would be with you by Friday the latest, they are very friendly and very helpful.
Seren nos-you are right, the lady on the phone explained that to me, and when i checked i then realised what i had missed out reading, but i could easily of got the insurance for training by mistake and thought i was covered and obviously would not have been.
Oh, Direct Travel. I've been with them on and off for a few years. Only stopped last year when work gave me insurance. Now that work no longer need me (and I have more time to train) I need to sort out insurance again.
Hi Folks, Insurance .....that's something else to add to the list. Just glad I'm in CBA mode (otherwise known as tapering ) as I wouldn't have time to sort everything out. Haven't read back, hope everyone's fine and ready for the big trip. Just done my last long run and swim thank goodness.....next challenge: find a kennel for the dog...OH forgot to book it Aaarrgghhh. Not happy about the weather forecast though, was looking forward to a nice sunny bike ride with a warm breeze blowing! Still anything can happen between now and then. Just read on another thread Lake Zurich is 50m deep....gulp! Won't see the bottom then
Nina, at least we'll be able to see unlike the Beaver! I really didn't enjoy scraping my hands along the bottom of that lake!
Taperitis has hit here. I'm getting moody and cross. Have also eaten a bounty, snickers and a bag of hula hoops along side usual food. Don't normally eat that much junk in a day. A (quite tough) Pilates class tonight then beer and maybe pizza i think
Training for post race party is going extremely well, just spent a nice long, drunken weekend in Prague Well, it was my Birthday!
Sunny but not too much glare for the swim... Overcast, dry and no significant winds for the bike... if and when I get onto the run course, overcast and a bit of drizzle from time to time...
I've come out of denial long enough to wash Percy and make him look all sparkly.
I appear to be replacing training with cleaning. I am tackling the little guys bedroom tomorrow evening. I believe all immunisations are up to date. Will just tie a rope around my waist and jfdi
Getting organised is daunting in itself. Terrified of forgetting something crucial! I've made lists and list of everything!! I've got Monday off work to try and get myself sorted. Percy needs to get packed away then.
