BTA card... My membership expired and I was going to pay for a day licence but just discovered yesterday that finances look better than expected so could theoretically renew it now... I may well do that.
BtS - have you any more info about transition at IMCH? I can't find anything on the website.
I found this from a thread in Tripetalk about last year:
The IMCH transition is different to every other WTC event I've done. WTC events usually have a "clear" transition where you're not allowed to leave anything lying around your bike and all of your kit goes in colour coded bags for swim to bike and bike to run, which you have to take into a changing tent.
IMCH has a "traditional" transition - you rack your bike and lay your kit out around it. When you come back into T2 you take your bike back to your original spot (no bike catchers here) and change into your running kit by your bike. I think there might have been changing tents for the more modest people, but most people just got naked in the open air
.
Don't expect to have a special needs bag either. I asked about it at the briefing and just got lots of blank looks from the organisers. I don't usually bother with food in my special needs bag, but I do tend to put a spare tub and CO2 cartridges in it. When I found that special needs bags weren't going to be available I just left my additional spares by my rack with the intention of nipping back into transition between laps to pick them if I used up the spares on my bike.
Nam -Not sure if you were joking..... i travel with hand gel and lip balm in my hand luggage and any liquids need to go in placky bags to get through security.

This is correct, or at least it was in 2005 and its my understanding the IMCH 2009 transition will work in the same way. Its exactly the same as Bala, standard type of tri transition as opposed to the more common WTC transition whereby you have to collect your bags and change in a change area. For IMCH all your stuff will be by your bike racking position.
wot Barlist says about IMCH transition is correct - all your stuff next to the bike.
don't bother with a transition box, use a good size rucsac that doubles up as hand luggage for the flight and as a transition bag. you can wear your helmet, clip the shoes to the bike, and put your bottles on the bike cages on going to transition to save space in the bag........
EHIC card (most travel insurance will only start from the bits not covered on this) If you're flying remember to remove the CO2 cannisters from your saddle bag(s) I don't plan to use it, but I'll have immodium tablets in T2 just in case Padlock for the lockers at the YH Bike lock (on the offchance we stop for ice cream having recce'd heartbreak on Friday) P20 sunscreen for early doors application on Sunday
I'm going to take a couple of old IM plastic transition bags, as if it's anything like IMDE in 2006, all our stuff will be soaking before we start, and I'd quite like to at least start the bike with dry shoes and socks, even if they don't stay that way for long
and don't touch public door handles, light switches or toilet flush thingies and definitely don't rub your eyes, nose or mouth as the germs get in through your mucous membranes

Oh well done - and TOTP to boot!
Nam - I'm also taking my trisuit - covering all of the most unlikeliest of possibilities. And wetsuit glue, found some cuts in mine.
Oops, forgot about suncream in transition! Thank you!!!
Will the YH provide towels for normal use?
How about:
BTA card
Insurance details
A pen
Socks for bike
Vaseline or other for on the bike bike?
Spare pair of goggles
Pain pills for on bike/run
Split out what's in your spares bag so you don't overlook anything in the "etc".
Fabby list - I have already printed it and scribbled notes to myself.
I seem to be in 'work' mode, although oddly I've done hardly any work all morning..........
Same here...
"insurance"... of course! >slaps head<
Light rain jacket - just in case?
What are you planning to do with Meldy??
Does anyone know if the hostel has towels?
arm warmers
spare innertubes (incase you puncture before the race)
chain lube
swimming costume for practice swimming before the event.
all the race info printed from the site
small clear plastic bags for the flight!
alcohol hand cleaner (and don't touch your face on the plane)

LOL Melli I thought you just throw up a lot!!!
Althought I was wondering why the bags needed to be clear...
Fingers crossed nothing gets 'borrowed' then.

Cheers.
Thought that was the case but wanted to double check.
Must admit that I'm suprised that it's not a common approach for all IM branded events.
To add to the list:-
EHIC card (most travel insurance will only start from the bits not covered on this)

I wouldnt worry about it, chances are youll catch flu on the plane
but chances are you'll only catch flu on the plane if you do those things above that you shouldn't
most germs are spread through contact, not random 'floating through the air'
