Still debating whether to get the icon or not. I race in pirate gear, but won't feel like I've truly made it until I've done an Ironman. Or a triple, or a deca, or whatever the going rate is by then - got to allow for inflation...

I've been on the forum long enough to have been around since before the pirates, so I see it as an Ironman club - and I'm just in training. I'll wear the colours to show my allegiance (and to shamelessly get encouragement from the pirate supporters at whatever race I'm at) but I know that I'm not a real pirate until I've got an M. indelibly inked on me somewhere.

Oh I'm very new I thought it was about Triathlons and you add Iron to your name when you've done that Iron man. So I'm only a baby baby pirate, more deckand than captain.

OK SVT, so you wear the kit, and get the support, but you aren't a real pirate because you haven't  done an IM?

If you think it is an IM club, then don't wear the kit and be true to your beliefs? surely? 

(and I am not saying this to be confrontational SVT just think what you are saying is contradicting)

I've done my first tri now, not sure if I was a proper FLAP because I didn't post  much on the FLAP site after I couldn't get to a computer at work. I have some Pirate gear just in case. I would still love to be a pirate though. Does that mean that I'm now a FLAP, or am I a Pirate?

An Ironman isn't totally out of the question for the future, but needs more brewing!

Farnie - I'm a contradictory kinda guy.

I can wear an England football shirt, and play football in it, but that doesn't make me an England player.

(I know everyone has their own differing interpretations of pirateness - this is just my take on it.)

Mine wasn't even a real IM.  All that effort for nothing......

I should probably change my name, but 'DI Wickett' would either get me arrested for impersonating an officer, or be voicing what lots of people think to themselves after meeting me.  Oh, and I'm not welsh either.

 What happened to all the other icons; sub 3, ultra, fell runner etc etc there was a thread ages ago where you could list which 3 you wanted, (just searched, but can't find)

I'm not a Pirate and although I've finished an Ironman (IM Lanza '04 12:38:08) I don't feel like I rose to the challenge, I walked on the "run", so I don't consider myself an "Ironman".
Hoping to redress this next year at TLD, possibly as a Pirate?
