I bought a pair of Asics Powell tights. I normally train in shorts or running tracksuit bottoms but I thought I would give tights a whirl. I feel like I am tiring quicker than usual when wearing them. YES they fit properly and are not restricting me other than that elasticity feel when wearing.
Does anyone else think (or know) that tights make a run more arduous? Maybe I have just had some off days when wearing
Let me know what you think!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you follow the skins theory for tights - you'd expect to run better with them than not. I'm not convinced though.
Yeah you need em for Orienteering.
Hey, anyone else!!!! Reply and help my confidence (or not) in this!
Tights are great for those cold winter mornings!
Arduous?..def. not..maybe you just ran alittle faster because you weren't used to the feel
i use both
but i think that tights do help recovery so i wear them in training but not in races
Please ignore my ignorance, these tight thingy's - are you meant to just wear them.
If I dared run in the streets with them on alone - I would get my head kicked in. LOL
Tights make me run harder just so I can get home sooner to keep the number of people exposed to the sight of me in lyrcra as few as possible! In seriousness, I haven't found much difference performance wise in tights v shorts; maybe you just weren't used to the feel of them or as you said had some off days?
Scottish Mike - I've never seen a runner in just tights alone. Maybe keep that experiment until a dark winter's evening
ah all good advice and quite amusing also lol I get the sh** ripped out of me for wearing tights lol I am in the military and even though people Kknow I am a phys monster I still get annihilated
The Ron Hill brand seems to get extra jibes
So no performance issues then just credibility ?
not as bad as 3/4 length capri tights!
Tights and my fave' old knackered in breathable running jacket, i'm a creature of habit and absolutely don't give a monkeys what i look like. Even if i'm on a 20 miler.
If it's hot hot hot i'll wear shorts and a breathable T but i'd rather not.
Mine are probably shorter than yours, and therefore less restricting (see pic) as, being female, I can get away with it.
I don't find it more of an effort. However, I always wear baggy shorts for steeplechasing/hurdling, because then tight shorts definetely do restrict leg movement.
> LadyBee - you have to be joking! In winter and cold spring/autumn days, everyone here wears tights and nobody looks twice. Shorts over the top of the tights? Not done. And in summer I (and 90% of other runners) wear cycle-length lycra. Light, supports the muscles, doesn't bunch up, and dries out fast in rain.
Nothing like a warm thick pair of full length white tights and the feeling of freedom. run in these every day and keeps me warm and supports muscles and holds me in. I ignore all the giggles stares laughter comments clapping it is all part of being proud " out and proud I say" . girls love a buff guy who is brave at heart and manly man . It can get hard sometimes when lots of young girls all wearing their exhibitionist see thru stretched black tights and a visible thong on . all that gorgeous butt to look at like I said it can make it hard for us guys running in tights there is no where to hide. leaves nothing to the imagination and any subtle shape change expansion or movement can let everyone know how yr feeling. I stood talking to a hot young babe one day who stopped me and made an excuse to chat about my sports attire choice . I just had a raging boner the entire time and we just kept talking . it was an incredible moment . she just ignore the elephant in the room. see thru soaked in the sun shine nothing under I was exposed to the elements for over and hour. be out and proud guys . girls love it like we do .
