Does it have to be beta blockers? I thought the tendency now was not to prescribe beta blockers as they are less effective and have more side effects than alternative medications.
I have high bp, but am on a different type of medication (candesartan cilexetil) as beta blockers would interfere with my asthma medication. I have no noticable side effects from these. If you find beta blockers do affect your running I would go back to your GP and ask for an alternative.
I was on same, and it slowed me down by 4minutes over a 5k parkrun ! I was gutted. Also affected my asthma, so 2 weeks ago I moved on to amitriptyline and so far so good.
Leaves you feeling sluggish in morning, so while you don't feel like running, once you get started it is fine and little impact on run times.
