Anthony - Well done on the 29th, perhaps the BBC should concentrate on guys like you next year rather than minor celebs!
Stoxy - Here's the link and can I just say thanks as you posted on my first forum on here when I just started running and was looking for encouragement.
Anthony Blacker - I think you should have a T-shirt made up saying "I'm running my 30th Great North Run" There won't be 119 running all 30. Bound to be a few more not doing it each year, until you are the only one! Then they will give you prize
Hi, not been on here for a while. Well I completed my first ever half marathon in 3 hours 2 minutes. I was on target for 2 hours and 30 minutes until I got to 6 miles when my knee started hurting and was too painful to run so I walked the rest of it, couldnt even manage to run across the finish line. A very good time for me I think and considering my knee. The atmosphere was just amazing and nothing like I imagined.
Hi Debbie and well done on completing your very first ever half marathon . Shame you couldn't do the time you hoped for but you did well to finish with a knee problem that early in the race. Maybe next year ? Glad you enjoyed it none the less.

the end......see you all in 2010
Well before this thread ends, I ran/jogged/walked round my 29th GNR in 2 hrs 17 mins 03 secs.
Now for 2010, GNR No. 30 & hopefully some recognition from NOVA, the local press, Sue Barker, Big Bren & the BBC.
Those of us who have done all the GNRs NEVER, get a mention anywhere.
2:17:05 for me. V crowded where I was or would have been quicker. Enjoyed it though.
And I agree Anthony.
Is there a 2010 thread then? Link please
Your requested link is here
Well done with ya 2:17
Anthony - any idea how many all GNR's there are?

Come and join us on the new GNR 2010 thread
Eddie - I think they were local runners who kept the celebs company.
