Helsby Half Mara

  • Does anyone know where I can see the official results?!

  •  Hi Nat, the race results can be found at  www.raceahead.net  hope you got the time you wanted?
  • On the results it says that last person was in posn 1533, can that be correct as the race entry closed early when 2000 entrants were received.  Were there really 477 no shows? It seems a lot too me.

A PW for me at 1.56.06 , but considering level of fitness, cold snotty nose, excess weight and this was my first race and the furthest I had ran since April last year ( Paris Marathon)  I can accept it for now...

Ot training tomorrow though. Well done all.

  • Pleased with that. Here's my report

Thanks for the shout Marshallini - that's just about the most difficult point on the course for the runners I reckon. I heard encouragement directed at me, but was feeling too sorry for myself to see who it came from.

Very impressed with the automated text service - a little less so with times that were rendered as (e.g.) 1:28:60  image

  • Hi!

Thanks for the results link! Managed 1h53'04, 3 minutes over my target but it was my first one so very happy!image

Does anyone know if the Wilmslow course is easier than Helsby?! Also running Chester and know that one is flat.

  • natalie - Liverpool is (or should be) a better course if you want a fast time.

Halo - I know four people who did not run today, I have just come back from Disney marathon last week, two others are ill and one is injured, I suspect the weather forecast will also have put people off

  • I did Wilmslow last year: the course is certainly not as 'undulating' but the race felt very congested.  Today I felt I was running with people but not having to dodge around people - which was excellent!
  •  Fantastic event! image   See you all again next year!

  • Hi!

Hum, wish I had registered for Liverpool now but never mind, hopefully also doing Chester and one back home in Belgium in October (which is pancake flat as we sayimage).

Certainly be back @ Helsby next year!!

    PS Anyone seen photos yet?

  • considering current amount of training, was going to be happy with 1:45, so well pleased with 1:38:43 (chip). have done it many times in the past, but not for a few years now. good to see the organisation is as good as ever, and great to see some familiar old faces as well - well done everyone image

(haven't seen photos - web-site blocked at work)

  • Ran a good race seeing xmas wrecked me training plan (excuses, excuses - bah humbug) just 3 mins off breaking 2hrs - I would hope and pray to break it next time (Liverpool 1/2) I felt like I went as fast as me little legs could take me, especially since I nearly collapsed on the finish line, was so fatigued,  it was those hills, them hills - though the last mile did give you some sanctuary.

We was so lucky with the weather- a really well organised race, nice medal, and a big thanks to the ladies in the club for the tea and biscuits at the end - what a godsend!

    I'll be back!

  • Where are the photo's? Been on Mick Hall but nothing there, was there another site?

    Cheers Pug image

  • I think the albums are being uploaded now ?
  • Nathalie, I forgot to congratulate you - well done! I know you were looking for 1:50, but anything under 2:00 is something to be pleased about, especially for a first attempt, and on a hilly course. You should have no difficulty getting under 1:50 on a flatter course
  • clashes with windermere marathon image
  • Viking you're here:

Steve's on 520 and my arm is on 523 - to think I wore orange so I could spotmyself easily on the photo's!

  • Here I am!!!

These photographers normally miss me off for some reason!
