To anyone thinking about doing this, THIS IS THE BEST RACE OF THE YEAR.
I agree, the best race i have ever done.
Fantastic scenery, great atmosphere.
See you on the start line.
I am hoping to get a few pirates doing this event and we will be hopefully all dressed up as well Pirates!
Come and say hello at the race
SA - I need to work out a plan of action for this with other family stuff going on - dressed as Pirates ya' say?
aaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrr >>>>cough splutter- spit <<<<< sorry just gargling some mouth wash & went down the wrong way...
ran over the roaches today. unless we get 5 weeks of bone dry weather i'll be running in my fell shoes.
running in road shoes up there will make for great torville and dean impersonations
hey sd - cant wait to hear what you're going to don this year
Just entered - look for a large penguin. See you all there in one shape or another.
I'm a native of Staffordshire and grew up pretty close to the Moorlands area. Where does this route go?? When is it?? I might venture out of Yorkshire and do it!!
OK, I just read the entry form - duh. I would love to do this, I know the area well, however it's the day after my running club's annual Xmas bash. I'm afraid I will have to decline ....
I entered a few weeks back on-line and still have not received my race number. Has everyone else had theres?
Look out for a lady Santa.
Cazmo, I think you pick the number up on the day this year.
Last year they sent them out, mine was lost in the post but they kindly replaced it without problems so don't worry.
Route: start from the reservoir, and then up Whitty Lane across fields to end up at Upper Hulme. Then along the roaches road, maybe 1 mile of road then sharp climb up onto the roaches.
All the way along the Roaches to Roach End, then long return back along the roaches road back to the fields at Upper Hulme and then reverse the route back.
We re-enter the reservoir through a back route, always a bit of a slog the last bit!
4 'Chap Harriers' coming up from derby for this
enjoy the race everyone
i'm now marshalling it
see you there
Got my number today.
Unfortunately no fancy dress for me, I shall be the odd one out.
Not sure if I'm running tomorrow, not done any running at all over the last week. Will be there watching any way, as Mr B'ham Snail has been training hard for the race.
Have fun, see you there and don't forget to smile for Bryan Dale taking your photo as you go round.
P.S don't tell Myffin I'm not running. With a bit of luck Myffin will not read this thread before it's to late.
I'm not doing it either.
We've just take delivery of a new dog (Beautiful little Lurcher Girlie) and I've been walking her with her new friends quite a lot to help familiarise her with the area.
Yesterday I reckon I did 5-6 miles over 4 walks and this morning I didn't get back until nearly 9am which didn't leave time to get ready and get there.
Bit pee'd off, but my training has been very slack the past two weeks with a holiday on the IOW and travelling with work.
But I'm off for a training run with a club member now to make amends and then ........... more dog walking !!
Hope the cold gets better.
Very enjoyable race as usual, impeccably marshalled by Collie Dave, without collie, and many others.
Results are already on the UK results john schofield site.
Fantastic race The support at the top of the Roaches was a nice welcome too.
Defo be back for this one next year, made me feel festive today.
Wow that was fun. My first off road experience and it was great.
Just checked the results out and they've mixed up my race number and got my time wrong, - 11 mins worse than it should have been, so I've emailed them and hope they can fix it soon.
sp - good to see ya. happy crimbo! looking forwar to some great adventures in 09
hope everyone enjoyed themselves.
Cheers CD, good to see you too. Didn't hang around too long at the end as i had to visit the cheese factory shop in Hartington. Xmas tradition, bit like the cracker.
Ho ho ho to one and all.
