The sad thing about this year is that, rather than being a celebration of an inordinately successful year for British sport, much of the pre-programme hype has been negative:
F1's not even a real sport.....she's boring.....cycling's a crappy sport etc etc.
a shame.
oh and I think rebecca will win. and I hope she does. and im a scot
Why Wiggins over Cooke D74 ..her continued road successes are worth some recognition?
pity tho that for once there is a large number of really deserving contenders and the vote will be split amongst them instead of the years when its mostly numpty sports "celebrities" who get all the votes
What, if Hoy doesn't get it? Dedicate your life to a very demanding sport, the blue ribbon event of the sport no less. Then, just as you reach the peak on theh world stage, see the event inexplicably dropped. So then you say bollox to the decision makers, and adapt yourself to three other events, and be the best in the world in each of them at the same time.
Like telling hamilton that F1 is cancelled, have a crack at rallying, Nascar and Touring cars next year.
Wiggins is a total star, very down to earth and is totally overlooked for his acheivements. First person to defend the Olympic Pursuit.
And I can't stand Cooke's voice. I know, crap reason, but they were my list. She's never recovered in my view from the cry baby 'they all worked against me' in the last olympics. What did you expect, for them to help you?
GD - IMHO no, they aren't. One is semi endurance, one pure power and the other is mostly tactics. Isn't Nascar and touring driving around on tarmac anti-clockwise?

yeah she won it!
that's good. deserved it.
Eh Penedleton (inexcplicably) isn't even nominated.
Hoy, Wiggins, Romero for me.
But.
I think Hamilton, Addlington, Hoy.
And no surprise at all for young SPOTY, although well deserved.
I had heard a rumour that laura robson was gonna sneak it but I agree. deserved.
Kevin McKenna said in today's Observer that if Hoy doesn't win, it will be the biggest injustice since Jocky Wilson lost out in 1982.
is it me or is this all a bit OTT?

aye. can honestly say that there is not one person nominated that is 'making up the numbers' as is generally the case.
great.
felt Shane Williams might have been nominated....but then who to leave out!?

snigger.
was just gonna type in harrington but then he isn't british is he
Aren't Hoy's events all going round the same track the same way on the same surface?
OK I agree but you did add Rally which isn't
I reckon they were all hoping they didnt !
If Lewis had a pedal car i reckon it would be a fair comparison ...
