pleased with that set of results - I too wish they'd lay off the poetic stuff - used to like the older style where you got to see more sport.
Didn't really get why, when they're presenting the unsung hero award to a boxing club peep, and they have lots of damn good boxers in the room, that they go for letting two footballers present the award.
agreed Bear, Mr Meglet came home miffed he had missed most of it and asked was it any good. I replied they didnt show enough sport. more sport clips and less arty stuff and standing in the studio next year please.
I thought the cycling vote would be split with four contenders, but obviously not. A very worth winner. Lewis took coming second for the second year running very well. Considerably better than last year!
best result of the night was the Lifetime Award to Bobby Charlton
I'm no great wendyball fan but BC has been exemplary in his football life - a truly great footballer by world standards, genuine nice guy, loyal to Man U throughout his career now as a club Director and as down to earth as they come....
many modern footballers could learn some valuable lessons from him
Well done to Chris Hoy. Team GB did an excellent job in Beijing, so this years' Sports Personality of the Year title was a tough one to win for him as there were so many deserving contenders.
Great to see cycling getting well deserved recognition for a change. Poor old Chrissie W. though, a very fast shot of her with the winner's wreath on her head and a gabbled one-liner, yes tri is a "minority" sport but surely ALL world champs deserve a bit more respect.
Great Result and spot on . Best Olympics ever (can't compare to 1908 - some events only the Brits entered) had to be an Olympian. I voted for Hoy. I think Becky second and then let Hamilton in third but not picky that was the right result. Coaching award to a non celebrity (football manager) as well.
Cycling did well and finally got recognition after 40 years.
Didn't see the whole show as was at Race of Champions at Wembley (so saw Hoy and Hamilton there before they flew up to Liverpool) so can't comment on the rest of the proceedings. Although the right choices appear to have been made in each category and in a year when Football had to take a back seat they even managed a master-stroke by giving out a Lifetime achievement award to Bobby Charlton - and you can't argue with that either.
Great result and worth the extortionate amount that voting by mobile will have cost (was that or through the hotel switchboard!)! Got the top 3 right. Would have preferred to see Becky A in second but knew it would be likely to be Lewis H.

yay
ok wrap it up.....
nice chap too
Lewis will have other chances -he is young with a long career ahead
agreed, Lewis will have his name on eventually.
IMO the right choice, and in fact the right top three.
Clean sweep for cycling, with coach, team and personality-YAY!

i feel dirty for having watched the whole wretched back-slapping mawkish simpering mess.

hear hear, FB. Sir Bobby is one of the good guys.

Bobby Charlton once nearly ran me over at Old Trafford
