Gavo, thankyou for your observation.. I referred to Frogs as being French because I wanted to show that I was above such petty stereotyping. I am sure that garlic-eating bunch of Johhny-foreigners would acknowledge my farirness in making that decision.
I think Franch will easily beat the Italiens. They're much better than their current form suggests. I think England stunned them very early last week and they were too shocked to get back into the game. It was all over by half time. If there was a rule for a 5 minutes 'Time Out' it would have helped them last week. I'd have used it right at the very start, that way I might have been in the ground to see the first try FFS! England to win by 12 points. Wales-Ireland.... Mmm... Wales up at half time by 3 points. Ireland win by 5 at the finish. (We can't have those bloomin Taffs winning again. Before you know it Max Boyce'll get wheeled out singing!) Besides, I'd never hear the end of it from my old man!
haha - he's the least Welsh in the lineup B!! Shanks was born in London when his old man played for London Welsh in it's 70's heydays as a top club.....
Agree with FB on the predictions. I'm 12 in 12 so far but could get all 15 right but have the champs wrong because I originally thought Wales wouldn't make such a hash on the points difference front last week. I now fancy Ireland for the title.
Back on the ELVs. Only the 10 metres back from the back foot of the scrum , the variance of numbers at the lineout, the crooked quick throws and the corner flag touch not preventing a try work well. The rest cut down space (the collpased maul) and create aerial ping pong (can't clear straight to touch). Some of the aerial ping-pong is the fault of the teams and a lack of ambition though. The ruck laws don't need changing - refs just need to interpret what is still 'in' the ruck a bit more strictly. Why can't refs use the radical Brian Moore idea of a straight feed requiring the scrum half to put it in, er, straight. I wouldn't mind 10 free-kicks in a game (we get it anyway as the result of collapsed scrums) if it forced scrum-halves to stop the crooked feeds.
as an ex-hooker and prop, the scrums are becoming a joke these days anyway and are heading towards rugby league status of being a no contest. you might as well have crooked feeds as the lawmakers have removed the raison d'etre behind the scrum of it being a battle between two opposing packs based on technique and strength - and straight feeds. I can't remember the last time I saw a hooker done for foot up ffs.....
yes, the changes to the scrum has speeded the game up but the game has lost a lot in the process.......

I think France may just run riot on Saturday and put 40 odd points on the board.
It would be just like this topsy-turvy 6 Nations if they did !
England to oger the Jocks,
The Irish to take the Taffs in the last twenty, and the French to paste the Eyeties all over the pitch.
I thank God that sport transcends international boundaries and reduces bigotry.
oger?
You should really be a Diplomat, Barkles
'oger' means 'get humped by' i think...
right - the results will be
France - Italy - France to win but not by much
England - Scotland - England to win (much as I hate saying that) by a decent margin
Wales - Ireland - Wales to win but not the champs as I don't think they'll get the 13 point margin
but I ain't putting bets on any of that!!!
France to edge past Italy - just
England to thump Scotland
Ireland to beat Wales by a last-minute drop goal from O'Gara
GO IRELAND!
GO IRELAND!
GO IRELAND!
GO IRELAND!
GO IRELAND!
Results wise I agree with FB,as much as it pains me to agree with a taff.
Either way it's a day in the boozer.
Win win win situation
Depends on how the Taffs settle... and line-outs etc.
MIcks by three.
right 2moro's 6 nations bet
Italy to get there first win (home againts france) 9/2
England to stuff the jocks (england home) 1/6
Ireland to win the grand slam (away to wales) 5/4
£10 acc should pay £144.36 i think
Wa-hey!!

<nails colours to the mast>
Wales 30 Ireland 18.
Wales 3x try, 1Xpen. Ire 2xtry, 1Xpen. Just leaves us short of the championship!
what chance Shanklin getting carded for persistently being Welsh?
Surely you meant Steven Jones,Barkles??
Never has a man been more Welsh than our Steven
S.Jones?
Sorry don't like him, don't rate him. Should of become a school teacher.
what subject?
I see him as "the maths teacher who helps out with sports" kinda guy
Without wanting to appear disprespectful or offensive Mr Jones looks like the stereotypical Welshman.
He should be in Gavin & Stacey.
Grav what a man!!
