Nottingham Marathon

Yesterday I finally bit the bullet and entered my first full marathon (gulp) The question I have is has anyone else used the Nottingham Marathon website for their online entry? I did and I'm a bit worried that when I did I was given the message that although the site is secure, the site it sends all your details to (NetBanx) isn't a secure network and details could easily be read by a third party? Just wondered if anyone else has used it and had any problems??

Not a problem with on line entires for this event. The organisation is one of the best.

It's just a discraimer in case something very bad happens to Net Banx just in case. Don't worry about it they will be secure

I entered online a month or so back and have had no problems.

I've got the Zurich Marathon coming up in a couple of weeks and the Nottingham in September.

 I've only ever heard positive things about it, so i can't wait

I've been training since the start of August for the Zurich Marathon and have run about 560 miles so far.

I've done a 2 half marathons this year already. 

 That'll teach me for saying i want to do 10 marathons by the time i'm 40

Sheffield will be my second half this year and plan to do another at some point before Nottingham, looking forward to a good 5 full months of solid training (not)!!

I've got Freckleton nr Preston lined up for sometime in June.

 I've trimmed my training back to 16 weeks for Nottingham.  The Furman institute seems to have a decent training plan that i'm going to follow.

Thanks, I will. I've looked at a few 16 week plans, then put them down again as the reality of the amount of miles I need to put in hits me!! I could do with a plan that focusses more on long runs at the weekends and shorter runs during the week as I struggle time wise to get decent length runs in an evening.

Not really what you would call running.

Did a 16.5 mile plod/walk from Mansfield to Worksop on Saturday.

Hi Muzzy, I live in Worksop (well, near to Worksop anyway) and that sounds like a pretty good run I wouldn't mind trying, can you manage to be on some sort of pavement for most of the way or do you end up dodging boy racers on winding roads? What route do you take?

I followed a cycle route (cycle route 6. Mainly off road) most of the way but missed out Clumber due to a horse endurance event being on. I'd spent a bit of time dodging horses earlier so didn't want to go into their main area. Going down the road that comes from Budby, then down Sparken Hill into the town centre.

Missing out Clumber takes at least 2 miles off the route.

You can run between Mansfield and Worksop entirely on roads by at least 3 different routes, but as you say, you end up dodging boy racers.

BTW, I should warn you, it's not flat. Especially through Sherwood Forest section.

I'd expect nothing less running around there, ran my half PB at Worksop last year and that wasn't flat by any stretch!!
