Pirate spotting

Today , 7.45 ish A mile or so south of Balham station on MTB in Monaco or skin !

Saw from the train , I did wave image

 Come on own up ....

surely no one is going to own up to being out at that time of the day in a skin??

  • A skin !?! Thats one tough Pirate !
  • debbodebbo ✭✭✭
and one with no dress sense at all

  • debbodebbo ✭✭✭
imagine going out in a pirate skin through choice though image
  • imagine being in Balham!
  • debbodebbo ✭✭✭
being a foreigner I don't even know where Balham is

I hope it wasn't a big mean scary pirate after all these comments
  • gimme a G.  gimme an aylord.  what you got?
  • kanga i reckon
  • debbodebbo ✭✭✭
surely Kanga's not stupid enough to go out dressed in a skin? in public, in daylight
  • Dont think it was Kanga , not a small Pirate though and a few miles too far East for a lesser spotted Holywood

are you trying to politely say it was a burger boy Eccentric?

  • I like my skin!

I wore it once, too. image

  • No I dont think so it was a fleeting view from the train as I said and it may have been a monaco not a skin , (which is fine obviously  image)

And Balham is soooo not the place to be wearing a pirate suit anytime.

    Very brave

  • Is anywhere other than an event the place to be wearing a pirate skin?

  • You mean you dont wear yours on dress down day Holly image

  • debbodebbo ✭✭✭
exactly Holly - I don't get this 'wear your pirate skin to train in' thing

I'll wear my pirate jacket but draw the line at that
  • I was out in my skin today image.......i'm trying to harden myself up in certain areas...........the padding is nothing like my aldis cycling shortsimage..............but i wasn't in engerland though...........
  • debbodebbo ✭✭✭
I knew those welsh were weird

I don't even own a pirate skin, but if I did there is no way on this earth I'd cycle in it, apart from in an event

even if I did live in wales

    or engerland
  • My pirate kit is my race kit.   The buff, jacket and gilet are the closest I get, because the buff is small, and the others are only visible from the front!

But hey, I'm old fashioned and not in with the in crowd.

It would feel like wearing a cocktail or ball dress to the pub.

  • I've only ever worn my pirate skin to race in - its a bit much to inflict on the unsuspecting public...
  • debbodebbo ✭✭✭
and the jacket is actually sensible warm gear and looks vaguely normal

nothing wrong with old fashioned if it stops you committing style suicide on your bike image

  • I've got to wear mine before race day so I can decide whether to wear the monaco or the tank! Not very good with decisions...
  • i've only worn the pirate shorts once on a ride to check they were comfortable enough.  had a guy coming up to me and blowing me a kiss.

Talking of which I hope youre already thinking about an outfit to wear in June image

I reakon a goldfinger esk skin tight gold catsuit would go down a treat image  Go on Holly you know you want to image
  • so I am not allowed to wear my newly purchased gillet when biking.....??

(however its sooo hot this spring that I think the gillet is gonna stay in the cupboard till next winter).

  • Oh you can wear the gilets and tops - its just that the racing kit is :

    1. Bit skimpy for April
    2. Bit thin for April
    3. Teensy bit Gaylord for the UK
    4. See all 3 above.

This explains why I only race IM abroad - less likely to bump into people.
  • It's only safe to wear the full stuff when in a crowd of pirates anyway.  And by a crowd I mean more than 4.  But even then it's safer to be in the confines of an organised race environment and not on the open road.

What is the term for a crowd of pirates, I wonder?
