I was out yesterday late morning, and no I did not stop at the pubs on my route. But I will confess to stopping outside the shops in West Horsley and getting cramp in my calf as I unclipped. It was my first outing this year and first time in my pirate jacket.
Wasn't me. Even I draw the line at riding to pubs at 8 in the morning. It was probably meface.
I was out on Sunday but in the morning. Probably passed the Black Swan about 09:30 latest - wasn't open. Neither was the Haut Boy. But came from Effingham rather than Cobham. Over to Guildford, Cranleigh, Ockley, Dorking, Leatherhead and finally tour de Bookham to round up to 50 miles.
So don't think it was me. Gladys? Has he done any training.
CD - there are some wheels in my garage - shout if you want them.
Dusty... if you've got some dates I might come over and join you Surrey lot. I could double up a ride a visit to my dotty old mum. All I would ask is that you go easy on me as so far this year I have racked up an enormous total of
Ooo can I come down again? I have a pirate monaco now so will look all real pirate-like!
Only if you are feckin hard as nails. I'm still still in jackets, gloves and pirate buff on the bike. I did take the running jacket off tonight mid-run. Last year was too wet, this year is too cold. I'm likeing the look of this sewing thing on the telly - might give that a go instead.
Me..face, when you say, over to Guildford etc, can you be a bit more precise as that sounds like a nice route from that description. I need to build up my mileage now and just the word Cranleigh seems like a million miles from home, when in reality I know its not, plus no idea how to get there on a bike, can only do it by car using busy main roads.
I spotted a Pirate on Box Hill today in the cafe. At least I assume he was a pirate from his two PSOF waterbottles.
Riding a Felt Tri Bike and wearing a black SIS top. I did call out but I dont think he heard me.
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
Gladys, Just found this thread, hence the late response. Guilty as charged. Didn't mean to ignore you, I was probably still hung over given it was NY day
Not sure if you're doing the full Brighton Marathon this w/e? If not, see you at Outlaw HIM

Normally I go out via Fetcham/Cobham/turn right off route to Effingham to Black Swan. Past Haute Boy and then towards Send. Come out on A246 at bottom of Staples Lane. Then right along A246 to Guildford on dual carrirage way. All the way into Guildford. Head South towards Shalford and then either hang a left through Chilworth and pick A25 to Dorking (short route) or continue on to Cranleigh. Onto Ewhurst, Forest Green, then A29/A24 to Dorking.
Some of it is on fast dual carriageways (A246 and A24). There are lots of good lanes around Forest Green/Ewhurst if you aren't sticking to a schedule.
Yep, running Brighton, so look out for the completely shagged Pirate creeping round. Forgot you were doing Vachery instead - see you there if I don't catch you on Sunday.
Can do. I didn't know what was being planned. I usually spend a bit of time cheering on those still coming in, so just in case we don't catch up on the course is there a specific pub in mind?
There are quite a few pirates descending on Brighton .... check back here later and I will try and find the pub info if someone else doesnt beat me to it

Lots of pirates? That's exciting - will be nice to put a few more faces to names.
I'm going to be making my pirate debut in Brighton - I'm 5ft, a lady, and will have a blonde ponytail and red number. Say hello if you see me!
Coops .. coming to the pub as well ??

Stop lying FB there's no way your five foot tall.
I'm definitely going to want a vodka when I finish, so hopefully!
No way - I'm the only mini pirate in the village.
ACoops is lovely.
That's only just occurred to me
