How unfair is that. Tell people the web site doesn't open until 9am and then open it 9 hours earlier. I've had my five consecutive rejections and am desperate to do it in 2010. I've been trying since 8.45 this morning and can't get anywhere near the site and even if I do no doubt I will be too late - they apparently only take a limited number of guaranteed entries. What a bummer. I'm really hacked off at Virgin.
So annoyed feel like just forgetting about it but I would love to run London, did they not understand that this would be a very very popular event to apply for. Honestly. Think the old mailing way was alot better at least there was a date deadline so it gave all the people in my situation chance to properly apply. Instead of a number deadline I am gonna be so upset if it fills up before I get chance to apply. But surely no one is getting in right now so maybe they have stopped the site thats what they did last year when it got too busy.
I agree ninanana. Have a cut off date. What does it matter how many entries they get, especially as many gift their entry fee. It's a random pick of numbers, so picking 20,000 from whatever number of ballot entries should be easy, rather the bloody mess we have today.
I don't think Virgin are to blame - but you'd think, being the sponsors, that they would have checked with the organisers that the I.T. infrastructure was sound as they must have known what happened last year.
Probably because everyone is rushing to sign up for a realbuzz membership as well.
Cant really remember the relevance to be honest of the realbuzz site as i signed up last year when i applied for the FLM, dont really use the site, just their mapping tool.
my friend has just called me to say that he applied at 06:15, his registration number is over 101,000, by the time he followed with his wifes her number was nearly 102,000, to me that don,t leave many for us lot who waited till the advertised time!!
I agree with Steve - too many people yesterday walking round who had clearly decided that that was what they were going to do from the start. Can't we direct their applications to Moonwalk or something? Meanwhile they stop serious runners (or us, anyway) from getting in.
Think realbuzz is a forum site remember I had to join last year too can not remember my password though so that may cause a problem. May just forget about it and get on with my life got so much to do. Can not be bothered to sit here all day looking at a cannot find page screen. May check in later.
....what I mean is allow their enthusiasm to die down for a few weeks before opening the ballot. I think the change to the 'morning after' ballot last year has a lot to answer for.
hehe Coops surely nothing good can come out of coming out of retirment, i mean OK aside from Rocky Balboa who restored some pride in the Rocky name once more, but other than that.....
well i'm deffo not getting anywhere with the marathon site.
Sorry for the website problems which we are working hard to try and resolve.
Unprecedented level of demand this morning has caused problems with the third party site hosts. If people want to look at results this is a direct link without going through any sites
i dont remember any password thing last year and it was much easier than this, a bit slow but this is crazy. hubby managed to get to second page and i've had 2 different home pages in hour and quarter. also running out of places before the time they advertised to open is bollocks!
Come on Nick - London Marathon is a global brand and you have thousands of people trying to login to a WEB SITE. Not good enough. I appreciate there is no perfect way to enable people to submit to the lottery but can you not at least load test the systems and perhaps work with an IT provider that can support, what was going to be inevitable - have the London Marathon team not learnt from last year.

I'm starting to think it might be best for me to just wait till lunch time and try again then.
i keep getting funny looks from people around me as i keep swearing at the PC and looking to the sky in desperation.
Not sure it would have made much difference Mrs PB
Some people seem to have been trying since 7.45 with no success.
yep I'm a 5 time reject so hopefully this is it! Just how many over 60 females do they allocate?
btw whats a 'realbuzz' password in case I ever get that far?
Wee Curly Dee
I remember that happurn in 2005 except open on Sunday at 11am its opened at 9am instead.
I Hope you will get in
Good news guys,
After running yesterday & busy year ahead, I'm not applying so at least thats 1 less PC online!!
Good Luck everyone

If we ever do get on the site, someone mentioned earlier the a "Real Buzz" pass word is required???
What, where and how?
The Real Buzz site must be on the same server is, that is as dead as well.
Probably because everyone is rushing to sign up for a realbuzz membership as well.

What a load of crap. Seriously, they must realise this is going to happen so why don't they put things in place to be ready for it.
Refresh.... refresh... refresh... refresh...
Thanks Jay
So I've got to bang my head against the brick wall twice then, once for Real Buzz membership, then back to try to sign up for the race itself.
Maybe after retiring from marathons in 2002, I need to stay retired?
