C & G Gloucester Half-Marathon

Been trying for a couple of days to enter but can't get past personal info section. E-mailed the organisers but nothing back yet. Have done this race twice before and really enjoyed it. Missed one year when it was cancelled and re-scheduled because of flooding in Watery Lane and new date I was running elsewhere. Still waiting for a reply on that one so not holding breath on current problem

Richard R, how did you enter? The on-line is actually cheaper than paper and would work for me but tried again tonight and failed. Not so tight that I can't spend the 50p but makes the admin so much easier. Have e-mailed organisers again and await response. Will try again and if no joy resort to paper. It's a cracking race, undulating, bit challenging. Didsome years ago and it was v.wet with some great puddles to run through, which made steeple chasing look easy. then the following year I ran in intense heat. Next year I entered it was cancelled due to weather so would love to give it another go

Thanks Richard, Tried again today and it's still not getting past page 2. Very frustrated. Will try and enter from a different pc or get my buddy to try on hi. Only form I've never been able to process

Not entered YET, but will do so next month probably. Was a scorcher last year so am glad it's been changed to the Saturday evening, should be a bit cooler.

Richard > It's all undulating but none of the climbs are particularly long/steep. They just gradually take their toll.

Thinking of doing this with my hubby - he's fairly new to running and would be his first half.  Any one done this before?  Do you think it's ok for a first timer - was planning to pace him round but don't want to put him off for life!

Pussycat > Depends how well prepared he is. As I said above, the course is all undulating. You can check the cousr profile using the link below.

Last year alot of people on here were touting it as hilly. Personally, I wouldn't say it was hilly, but the undulations take their toll. For runners that don't like any type of incline, this could be hard going. However, if you train appropriately, there's no reason this can't be a nice run. It's all on quiet country lanes and the scenary is nice. The local support, whilst sparce, is very nice and last year some kind resident took to getting the garden hose out to help cool runners.

Thanks for that - we live in an area which is pretty hilly wherever you head so no surprises.  Don't know about the hosepipe tho!

KW2...got an e-mail back reporting no problems but still failing in two locations. My running buddy is trying now from his pc. This is an undulating course with a couple of short, sharpish steeper ones but nothing reasonable training can't handle. In the main it's not toochallenging but the undulates mean it's def not pb material. The runners are very mixed so newish runners will not feel out of place.

All is fine here - finally seem to be getting over 6 months of almost continuous injury/illness and starting to run well again.
