First off, the address on my medical certificate differs from the address I used to enter the race - will this be a big problem? My name and d.o.b. is on there, as well.
Happy to meet up whenever, really. Expo is fine.
Getting to Mars. twenty to three, leaving 4.15 (blahdy hell, I'm not there long, am I?!)
Am staying in Mars. as I thought that'd be easier ... but what's Cassis like?
No problem about the address. My certs never state my address just name and date of birth.
Jelly will tell you all about Cassis as he did it last year. I've never been but the town looks very pretty. Very popular too on race weekend so you won't find a hotel room there at this stage. We've booked a gorgeous little auberge type b&b place. Can give you details if you decide to change. There is a shuttle from Cassis to Marseille on race day.
How strange! I wrote a rude post about shopping and when I come back it's not there! Must have failed to submit!
Rach I'd be delighted to shop for shoes and sports bra's with you, hell we're practically the same size! Expo closes at 7.00pm though! Ok 2.00pm at Chez Clement and I promise not to be as late as last time!
B, Cassis is very pretty it's backed by cliff's and steep hill's. It's a tiny fishing/yachting village really and has a lot of bars and restaurants and quite a few hotels as it's popular with tourists but relatively unspoilt. The streets are narrow so you can imagine what it's like when 12,000 runners pile in! There's quite an atmosphere.
Rach goes back on Sunday but we're staying on in a hotel down in the town til Monday. I think the auberge is 3-4k outside.
Biff - apart from the Elite runners, I think the start is a free for all. If you want to be near front (and get a quick getaway), you'll need to get there early to claim your place, otherwise you may have to do a lot of zigzagging to clear the crowds
Apologies to JB and Coops for discussing running on the forum...
Earlier the better although it is chip timed. Having said that I've done a few races now where the chip only records the time you cross the finish line and everyone has the same start time! Which is a bummer!
25,000 runners. Congested? More than likely?
At M-C you can hand your baggage in from about 6.30am! People are lining up before 8.00am, but at least there it's proper chip timing.
I don't know JB, I guess it all depends on how quickly I get away at the start. I'm going to take a pretty relaxed approach to this one as I don't think it'll be all that quick. If i'm in with a shout of 65 mins I'll push it, but 65-68 mins will be realistic.
No, it's an odd distance so not PB material unless you do it every year, plus you finish about 90m higher than you start so not fast either. I'm experimenting with base/Hadd training between now and London (with the races thrown in along the way) and I want to treat this race as such. I fancied this one from a while back because it was the 30th year and the organisers promised a big deal after last years non-running of the event. Should be fun. CP 10 is going to be the one for a PB attempt, if I'm in any sort of shape by then.
16k = 10m so not that odd a distance really, but yes the elevation and possibly crowds, will hamper a really good time. Stick with CP10 for that PB as it's quick.
Forecast looks promising too. Better than the 30 degrees + that greeted me at the Cransley 1/2 a couple of weeks ago.
I am certain I will get a PB at the CP10. it is the first time I've ran that distance! That tan on your pic must have been after the Cransley race Guy?
It is an odd distance, so surely a PB is guaranteed?
I'm really not sure what sort of time I'll do, but roughly around the same sort of timespan that Guy's looking at.
Given that I may well be dodging people in the first few kilometres, I will be aiming for 4m/k, and will then just try to hang on. Should get me home OK.
And will be a good indicator of my fitness for CP, although a PB is definitely not on teh cards at the mo.
I know it describes the race as 16k or 10miles on the website but I believe it's actually 10.3miles or something thereabouts unless they've altered the course.

Have you managed to shock everyone on the sports bra forum yet?

Weather's not looking great for the weekend. 18° max on Sunday afternoon, clouds and a bit of rain.
That looks like good running weather to me Rach very similar to what I had at the Grunty Fen half 2 weeks ago. What about wind?
Will have to hand baggage in by 9, keep coat and bottoms on, hand them to friends at 9:45ish, put a bin bag on and make my way to the start.
How many runners will be there. Will it be mega-congested?
Should I get to the start line at 9.30, not 9.45?

I'll concentrate on CP10 to for a quick time.

And 10 miles = 10*1.612, so not quite 10 miles even if it was 16km.
I'll get my anorak.........
Jelly stop being nerdy!
