i am going to manchester with my o/h on the weekend so do anyone know of any good pubs i can go to.i do like a drink and dont like anything to posh i am from the land of the pub
my wife was saying she would like to go in to the centre so it looks like they are going to have this boy from wales in a poncy bar. good word poncy we dont use that one down this way.
When I was a teenager, I once tried a pub crawl from one end of the main road to the other (Bury New Rd at junction 17 to where it splits into Radcliffe New Rd)
Junction Beehive Mason's Arms (Now Slattery's cake shop) Red Lion or King can't remember Wheat Sheaf Bull's Head Church
I think there was another one along there, as well as the Eagle & Child on Higher Lane. This is in about a mile & 1/4. The last time I was in the Bull's Head, me & Mr K won the quiz (gallon of beer), then picked the lucky key in their accumulator game and walked out with £350. We were lucky to escape alive.

can recommend Mary D's just out of the centre if it's a football pub you're looking for?
thanks callycat
i support arsenal ( the team with no money)i think they are on the tv this weekend
Lass o Gowrie
Does the mark addy still do great cheesey ploughmans?
I miss Manchester
it's the skyride this weekend Ford man so be prepared for all city centre roads being closed to cars and therefore loads of bikes being around
(Mary Ds is a big City pub just by the ground but as an arsenal fan I'm sure you'll get a good reception )
Corbieres is great. I love Kro bar on oxford road might be a bit poncy for your liking.
Samuel Platt's on Salford Quays.
Hi,
First of all you are not from the land of the pub...you are going to it!
Assuming you are looking for real ales I would recommend the following, in no particular order, apart from bracketing them in terms of locality:
Near Town Hall:
City Arms
The Circus Tavern (Portland Street). Don't take the cat...no room to swing it.
Almost next door, The Old Grey Horse
Near Briton's Protection is The Peveril of the Peak (bright green tiles outside). Over the road is Rain Bar.
Others of note are the Marble Arch (on the way out of the city on Rochdale Road. Jolly Angler and Crown and Kettle..both near Norther Quarter.
Where are you staying? Best runs from in town are along the canal...run towards Old Trafford.
Enjoy, and let us know what you get up to!
thanks for the info alehouse
