Following several weeks of increasing pain during running my Doctor tells me that I have the onset of arthritis in a big toe joint. Glucosamine tabs. seem to be helping but I wonder if I need to adapt my shoe type. I currently use a neutral shoe to accommodate my custom orthoses - these help prevent ITBS due to overpronation & leg length inequality. Might it help the toe to opt for a shoe with a greater level of cusioning, or will this undermine the effect of the orthoses?
