Scotty always seems to pull out all the stops when he has a hangover, so you can probably start engraving his trophy now, but I'll let you decide which category he belongs in...
Scotty, coming from you I'll take that as a compliment!
Have you got many of us from Maidstone? It is a club championship race for us, but the way things have worked out this year, the category leaders merely have to be there (or not) to claim their prizes next year.
As I'm the keeper of the scores for the Club Championship, I know that the only way I am going to win anything this year is by sprinting to the toilets in Margate, hiding for 20 minutes or so, then going hell for leather back to the finish, thereby setting a PB by about 16 minutes and racking up massive bonus points...
Or an error on your part could get you to send Scotty my race number while I get his...
Or I could just womble around in about 1 hour 30, enjoy the scenery and win nothing.
Sometimes what is less predictable is who will actually be running, though we seem to have about 20 regulars who have done at least 6 of the 8 races so far. Our challenge is how to get the newer members of the club to join in. Do I include worthy races, like the Thanet 10, which they really ought to be running, or the mass participation events, such as Paddock Wood, which they actually DO run?
It does not seem to be the Grand Prix races which are the issue, just the regular CC races (where they are not GP ones as well). We have tried out a few new courses (for us), but it does not make much difference to who turns up.
Its difficult - we have the same issue at every club meeting from our captains who want everyone to do all the xc, grand prix and kent champ races and not everyone wants to do that (me included). I like to do events that i enjoy and its not as if I'm quick enough to make a difference in the so called 'important events'!
Anyway over 300 entrants for the 10 miler now - bring it on!
I've sent out the race instructions to onliners, but the process doesn't seem to have finished yet... It started about midday yesterday. I've got a few bounces, but there is one obvious one at the end of the list that hasn't bounced yet. If people are still waiting, give it another day, and then I'll start trying to do something about it. It is becoming a real nightmare to try to send out emails to 200 odd people!
DB Can i make a suggestion. On the online entry form why don't we give a website address where the instructions can be found and let us download them for ourselves. If folk are computer literate enough to use the RW website they should be capable of downloading their joining instructions.
Instructions received at this end, thanks. The old codgers running probably only need to be told what date it is to set off for the correct event, although the start time is also useful.

blimey!! not long now. Have accepted an offer to a drinks party on Saturday 5th, so might be a little bit sheepish at the Start line.
SCdC....nutter!

I'm in?!! Hope the weather holds out?
Think the club, Ashford & District RR are going to use this as a Winter tester before Christmas ?! As I know a few of us are in.....
Wasn't it hot for the Coastal Marathon? Suppose it'll be nothing like that for this 10miler?

WE could if we had the race instructions as soon as people registered. We often don't... Might be worth me taking it up with the race organisers...
DB/CB - I think I have most of them now on my home computer so its definitely worth a thought.
We get so many emails - what did we do before t'internet?
