Hope my entry made it there in time. The limit was 500 initially but now 300, which seems a bit odd. If I`m in, I hope there are enough people running a similar pace to me! It`d be terrible to be out for so long, racing, but with no-one around you!
Race limit reduced to 300 as at 21/11/09 Race two thirds full. New Event run through coutry lanes of central Lancashire Race Limited to 300 for safety reasons. PLEASE also note the wearing of Ipods in the event is forbidden following the unfortunate fatality with a young lady in the Midlands. Anyone wearing these will not be allowed to go through the finish as the event Insurance does not cover Ipod related incidents
Anyone got any info on the route?( I know there`s a map but I`m the other side of the Pennines and don`t really know the Preston area very well).
What sort of times are people after? I did 1:51 in my last one and so, ideally, I want to be into the 1:4#s if the course and conditions are OK. This should be my fourth half having started racing this year.
I don't know the route, but I did a 10miler near there a week or two ago. If similar they are quiet country lanes, fairly flat with no hills to speak of. Looked at the profile on mapmyrun and less than 100ft of climbing for the whole 13.1 miles!! happy days
Kazzy - yeah, no IPods is a bummer imo. A long way to run with no tunes. I`m going to try at least one of my long runs no with no music to see how I go.
Paul - good luck with the last couple of weeks training. Just make sure that you don`t over-do it and taper in that last week. I`d love to think I could get near 1:45!
Flat as the proverbial pancake, eh. I`ll try and avoid the Sheff hills for the remainder of this month then!
mick - thanks for the words of encouragement. Yeah, I know I won`t be last but if there`s less than 300 in the field I have a worry that there`ll be bits where I`m on my own. The other halves I`ve done have been 1000+ competitors. (Saw you guys at my first half at Freckleton!)
I hope to get a couple of LDRs in before the day, including one in Preston on Xmas day!
kazzy - my PB is 1:58 too - hoping to go veeeery slightly quicker... - maybe crack 1:55 - that would be 8:47mins/Mile pace - I recently ran a 10M at 8:35 pace, so should be doable

Hi, just got my entry in for this one
Be a good one to blow away the christmas cobwebs!! and hopefully a good starter for the years running.
Does anyone know why the numbers have been cut from 500 to 300??
Luckily i entered early
I was just about to enter & it's full....
mp3/ipods are better to use when you go away like i do and the best music that you like better then tapes
i never run with mine even in training
Got my number today! Looking forward to it now!

ET this is a first run of this race so route not known unless map sent out with numbers.
Catforth is to the north of Preston so it will be country lanes.
Got my number through today too, and the map.

Looks like definite PB potential for everyone.

Really excited about this race, I did the Lancaster half and have now managed to convince a friend to sign up to this event.
Would love to break the 1:30 mark but not too confident as training hasn't been amazing (due to exams and generally being quite lazy).
MicknPhil I think I saw you at the Lancaster half, amazing effort guys.
Good luck everyone and see you on the day.
pppppsssssssssttttttttt,
